A concentric swage is a metal nipple used in reducing pipe fittings. The nipples are given the name due to the process in which they are manufactured. Swaging is a metal-forming technique in which the metal is plastically deformed to its final shape using high pressures, either by pressing or hammering, or by forcing the material through a die.

It has little, if any affect on the ozone in our atmosphere. The major factor for ozone thickness of the "layer" is sunlight. Without sunlight the layer thins. With sunlight hitting oxygen, we end up with ozone. This is why the only holes we see are the annual thinning areas at each pole during the end of their winter months.

Airgun pellets are made by the same process as bullets, called swaging. The pellets start as lead wire which is then pressed at room temperature into a die(swage) that is the inverse of the desired shape.

The die itself will usually be three to four parts. The first two parts clamp together much like a mold to form the diabolo shaped outer dimensions. Some dies have a third portion for the tip of the projectile which prevents a seam forming called the inner punch. Sometimes (as the case with Beeman Kodiak) the inner punch will have a pin hole in the very tip that allows excess lead to be extruded, ensuring uniform weight. The last part of the swage assembly is the punch which presses the lead from the rear to fill the die and forms the skirt or hollow inside of the pellet.

After the swaging process a sample of the results are inspected for quality before they are packaged by weight.

Shotgun pellets and bbs are made by a different process. They start off as lead or mild steel wire which is cut into pieces and rolled. The machine that rolls them has a lower half with a spiral groove that gradually decreases in diameter as it approaches the center and looks much like a giant metal record. The top portion is another flat plate which rotates just above the lower one similarly to a grain mill. As the top portion rotates it rolls the pellets along the groove toward the center and they exit in the center where they move on to a sorting machine. Over or under sized pellets will be recycled into wire and run through the machine again.

Steel bbs are electroplated with copper or zinc before packaging to prevent rust.

Jack the car up and take the wheel off. Use a stand, don't trust a jack. The outer tie rod end is the coupling between the wheel knuckle and the rack and pinion steering. To replace an outer tie rod end you need to:

1. Pull the cotter pin out of the threaded connector.

2. Loosen the jam nut and mark the position of the tie rod.

3. Remove the cotter pin.

4. Remove the nut from the tie rod end stud.

5. Hit the knuckle arm (thing tie rod end is in) with a sharp blow from a big hammer. The tie rod end should fall out of the knuckle. It is a swage fit.

Installation.

1. Thread the new tie rod end into the position of the tie rod on the end.

2. Tighten the jam nut.

3. Install the nut on the stub and torque it to 69 lbs.

4. Install the cotter pin and bend it over.

5. Have the toe in checked by an alignment.

One of the most common DIY repairs for stripped cylinder head spark plug threads is a Heli-Coil or Perma-Coil spark plug thread repair kit. For the Nissan, it requires a size M14x1.25. These kits are available at most auto part stores and cost around $30. The kit comes with a tap, an insert tool, and several inserts. No drilling is required. You basically tap out the hole (lubricate the tap, hand start it, then use a socket wrench to tap hole full depth, clean chips from the hole). Then you select the correct insert to match the length of the spark plug threads. Coat the outside threads of the insert with hi-temp RTV silicone. Install the insert until it's flush with the top of spark plug threaded holes. You complete the installation by placing the swage tool into the insert and hitting it many times until the knurl expands. Finally, you install a new spark plug to the recommended torque. Wait till the sealant has set before running the engine.

Yes, it is, but make sure you shoot foster style slugs. They are easier to force (swage) through the choke, and are designed for smoothbore shotguns. I like the Remington managed recoil slugs. A 1 oz. slug coming out at around 1250 fps is nothing to sneeze at, and they're very comfortable to shoot. If bears are your concern, however, I might go with something with a higher velocity.

Stainless steel metal bar grating is one of the most common flooring types found in industrial operations. Safe to walk on, while allowing hazardous materials and fluids to pass through, these grates also offer great strength-to-weight ratios. They are available in many materials, although stainless steel is probably the most common.

Typical types of stainless-steel grating include:

• Welded grating. This is the most commonplace type of grating, with individual welds at each intersection between the bearing bar and the cross bar.

• Dovetail pressure-locked grating. These grates utilize pre-punched notches in the bearing and cross bars, which are then locked together under high pressure. Pressure-locked grating is more aesthetically appealing, while still strong.

• Swage-locked grating. This manufacturing method utilizes pre-punched holes in the bearing bars, which are then mechanically attached to pegs or bars with hydraulic deformation.

• Riveted grating. For maximum strength, these grates utilize rivets at all contact points between the bearing and connector bars.

The biggest problem with lead slugs is leading of the rifling. When the hot powder gases push against the base of the lead bullet, they vaporize a tiny bit of the lead. This is deposited on the barrel and immediately solidifies because of the much lower temperature of the steel in the barrel. This lead build-up will eventually turn the rear portion of the barrel into a smoothbore. If allowed to build up enough, leading can be terrifically difficult to remove and, needless to say, it puts accuracy in the outhouse.

The solutions are to use "gas check" bullets, with copper alloy caps over the base of the bullet to prevent melting of the lead, and/or use of harder lead alloys such as linotype metal. Another solution is to use low charges of slow-burning powder to generate lower pressures and less heat, but even that rarely works well over the long term. Low pressures and hard metal with gas checks is the best solution.

This writer used to size .35 cal. linotype balls in a .375 bullet swage and load them into .375 Holland & Holland cases ahead of XX grains of XX powder* with kapok filler to keep the powder back against the primer. This was fairly accurate, good enough for knocking over the occasional rabbit, allowing me to say that I hunted rabbits with a sure 'nuf elephant gun.

There are many different parts of a knife. The main ones are here:

Back spacer-the material that holds the two sections of the handle together in a folder.

Belly-edge curve or arc. The greater the belly, the better you can make sweeping cuts necessary for skinning. In a combat knife, it changes the angle of attack from a chopping cut to a slashing movement.

Choil-the unsharpened part of the blade where it meets the handle; many knives have a choil designed to accept the index finger so you can choke down on the blade and have better control. Some makers assert that choils are to avoid ragged indentations at the grind termination when resharpening. Either way, it's for your benefit.

Fuller-more commonly known as a blood groove, this hollowed out strip reduces weight without removing strength from the blade.

Jimping-notched sections on any part of the knife used for enhancing grip.

Quillon-pronounced "key own" (it's French), these are the extensions from the handle that protect your hands from moving down on the blade.

Recurve-a sweeping blade edge in an S shape, used for extending the length of the cutting edge, improve slicing, or just for visual effect. This is more difficult to sharpen in the field since you need rods.

Scales-the handle sections attached to the tang of a full-tang knife or to the back spacer of a folder.

Skeletonized-some pieces of the handle material are taken out to make the knife lighter.

Spine-the back of the blade.

Swage/swedge-often called a false edge, this taper or bevel on the spine near the blade tip reduces weight and thickness of the blade and if sharpened, produces an extra cutting edge for enhanced penetration. Often seen on fighting knives.

Tang-how far the knife blade extends into the handle; the two types are partial or full. Full tang is generally stronger.

Thumb rise-also called a ramp or rest, this area at the place where the handle and blade meet allows the user to apply thumb pressure and exert greater control over the knife.

PREVENTION OF RIVER WATER POLLUTION

We can prevent pollution in river water in many ways and some of them are as follows:

  • not discharging untreated sewage and other industrial waste water into rivers
  • not dumping solid wastes, garbage and medical wastes in river banks
  • not using river banks as open toilets
  • not disposing dead human bodies/animal carcasses in rivers
  • not quarrying sand in river beds which is a key factor in river bank stability and erosion of banks
  • not washing vehicles directly in the flowing river water
  • and in many other ways according to the life style of local people

River pollution can be controlled by:

  • Reducing agricultural run-off
  • Preventing or treating industrial discharges
  • Preventing or treating municipal sanitary sewage discharges
  • Preventing or treating municipal storm water discharges
  • Preventing or controlling resource recovery in river channels
  • Controlling shipping (ballast, swage) discharges
  • Controlling marina operations
  1. Most fresh water pollution is caused by organic material. Humans bring organisms from one body of water to another causing aquatic plants and animals to die. Littering, sewage, food waste and farm effluent also cause under water plants and animals to die.
  2. Some other kinds of water pollution are industrial waste, fertilisers, oil and warm water. If large amounts of fertiliser or farm waste drains into a river or lake, the algae uses these substances to grow rapidly, turning the water green. Chemical waste is sometimes discharged into lakes and rivers. Some of these pollutants include: cyanide, zinc, lead, copper, cadmium and mercury. If oil enters either a slow moving river or a lake, it causes the surface to turn rainbow colours which prevents oxygen from entering the water. Industry often uses water for cooling processes, sometimes discharging warm water back into rivers or lakes. Making the water warmer makes the level of dissolved oxygen lower.

Rust rot is just a term for rust on the body of your car. Usually you'll see paint bubbles, which indicate rust underneath. To get rid of it, Strip the paint off the car to reveal exactly where the rust resides.

You have to strip all of it off. Sometimes other areas are affected where paint hasn't bubbled yet. Chances are, if you have one spot, you've got more. Once the body underneath is revealed, sand down the all the rust so it's completely gone. Remember that rust is like cancer. If you even leave a smidget of it on the car, you'll get the problem all over again. Make sure you get it ALL!!! To be certain, I recommend using a chemical like RustOleum's Rust Stripper. It chemically kills the rust and converts it to something totally different which is inactive. When all you have left is the unpainted body of the car, with no paint, you're done with the rust. The only thing left is to patch up all the holes with either epoxy, sheet metal, or putty (depending on your budget) and then repaint. To avoid getting infected again, try using Primers and Paint that resist rust as much as possible. Check out http://www.rustoleum.com for some tips and great items. I like them. They're cheap and they have a lot of great products.

The other thing you can do is just bring it to a car painting shop like Maaco and have them do all the work. But, they won't love ur car like u do. If you have the time, I recommend doing the rust removal yourself. Then bring your car to Maaco to have them repaint it. Plus, you'll save about 500 bucks on the paint job for all you hard work. Painting a car is 90% labor, 10% material costs. Good Luck,

Boris

Pipe Fittings are Plumbing materials that support the course of flow in Adjustments such as elbows, tees. Changes the size of the tubing, for instance reducers, raising tees. Link different components such as couplings and disrupt flows such as caps. In piping different forms of pipe fitting are used. Elbow, Hat, Reducer, Union, Linking, Brace, Collar, Swage Nipple, Pipe, Brush, Extension Joint, Connectors, Olet (Weldolet, Sockolet, Elbowlet, Thredolet, Nipolet, Letrolet, Swepolet), Steam Traps, Broad Radius Snap, Flanges and Lock. The regular fittings are either hammered or cast. Wrought fittings are made utilizing only seamless pipes. The machine creates broad diameter welded fittings.

Forged pipe fittings (Socket Weld and Threaded) are created in compliance with the standards of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) B16.11, MSS SP-79\ 83\ 95\97 which BS3799, and are used to link pipes and pipelines for the nominal bore schedules. Forged Iron Pipe Fittings are accessible as fitting of the socket weld pipe or as threaded pipe fitting. Forged fittings are constructed of A105 (carbon steel), nickel or stainless steel alloy. Such fittings are stronger and thicker and are built for heavy industrial use. Forged Iron Pipe Fittings are available in pressure groups 2000 #, 3000 #, 6000 #, and 9000#.

Forged Fittings Manufacturing Processes

There are many production processes of Pipe Fittings that used to make Elbow, Tee, Reducers and other fittings for pipes. Fittings are made with filler content from Smooth Pipe and Welded Steel (ERW & EFW pipes cannot be used for constructed fittings). Large diameter Plate fittings are made.

Some of the different processes that are used in the manufacturing of the Forged Pipe Fittings are

-Monaka or Double weld seam Method

-Hydraulic Bulge method – Cold forming

-Hot forming or Extrusion Method

-Deep Drawing Method for caps

-Flare Method for Stub ends

Hot forming or Extrusion Method

Hot extrusion is a method in which forged pieces are created by pressing a hot billet through the opening of a molded die. This post addresses hot extrusion, both non-lubricated and lubricated. The two non-lubricated forms of hot extrusion are forward or overt extrusion, and reverse or indirect extrusion. Lubrication is needed here. In both lower temperature extrusions this lubrication should be achieved with glass powder in case of higher temperature extrusions and graphite or gasoline. While the hot extruded materials are widely favored, there are a few drawbacks associated with hot extrusion which are the expense and repair of extrusion machines.

Monaka or Double weld seam Method

One of the techniques used often to make Elbows from tiles. After symmetrically cutting two bits of raw material tiles, each pair is pushed and welded together, reminding us somewhat of the Japanese delicacy, “Monaka.” This approach extends to various fabrics, and may also be extended to large objects over 1 meter in diameter. To meet different Global requirements, it has two seams and advanced welding equipment in operation.

Hydraulic Bulge method – Cold forming

Hydroforming tube utilizes internal pressure and axial feeding to turn a tube into the ideal type. The finite-element approach can be used to forecast the outcomes of the operation. One of the most important parameters for tube hydroforming finite element research is the properties of the tube materials. The tensile test and the hydraulic bulge test are two ways of determining the tubular substance properties. To examine the finite element process for tube hydroforming in a state close to the real tube hydroforming, the properties of the tube content must be calculated by means of a hydraulic bulge check

Deep Drawing Method for caps

Some of the most popular methods of producing caps, where plate is cut in a circle and shaped by a deep draw. Deep drawing is the method of turning sheet metal storage, or blanks, into circular or irregular forms which are more than half of their diameters long. Deep drawing includes wrapping the blank metal around a tube and then placing it through a die called a moulding cutter.

A drawing press may be used to mold sheet metal into various forms and the finished design depends on where the blanks are placed in. The metal used in deep drawing shall be maleable as well as resistant to exposure to stress and strain.

Flare Method for Stub ends

Stub Ends or Lap Joint Flange are developed using flaring process. Flow end is a flare or flange face cut out. Stub ends are often provided by welding, where the forge block is machined to the final dimension.
