It's called "overclocking".

Overclocking can permanently damage your systems hardware if you overclock to much. It is normally the heat that kills your computer in a nutshell. Overclocking should only be done after doing your research.

The only way to increase the processor speed is by overclocking. Through overclocking, you can increase the overall speed of the processor.

Information on overclocking can be found on Webopedia, Lifehacker, Wikihow, and Yahoo! Voices. Many other websites also contain information on what overclocking is, how to overclock a PC, etc, or one could find information on the subject in some libraries.

You need an overclocking program to overclock your video card. I use RivaTuner for my 8800GTS and I haven't had any problems. Remember that overclocking will ruin your warranty.

You can't, meaning, you're screwed

The "best" program will likely depend on the PLL of your motherboard. Different overclocking tools support different PLLs. The main programs you will want to look at are:
* ClockGen * SetFSB * CPUFSB * SpeedFan

All overclocking is done via the BIOS menu. Do your research before attempting this, you can destroy your computer. Overclocking your computer increases the amount of heat it produces and without the proper cooling it can cause serious damage. Overclocking a laptop is even more difficult due to its limited cooling methods.
1 answer
Yes, as long as you are not into overclocking.

No.
intel motherbord does not support overclock

it would fit but you would make a big mistake installing celeron prossesor if you want a quick prosesor keep the p4 and overclock it to 3ghz wich is the safest ghz range.try overclocking in the bios if there is no overclocking in the bios wich is very common in compaq try gettin overclocking sofware.you can find software if you search (overclocking software downoad) in a search engine prefrably google

The most common problem when overclocking is instability, which can manifest as system crashes, freezes, or blue screens of death. Overclocking can also lead to increased heat generation, potentially causing damage to components if not properly managed. Additionally, overclocking may void warranties and reduce the lifespan of the hardware.

Heat is normally the biggest problem when it comes to Overclocking. Overclocking generates more heat within your system. If your cooling is inadequate then the component(s) being overclocked may be permanently damaged.

No. OEMs typically do not place overclocking options in their BIOS at any time during or after production. And without detailed technical documentation, it would be very difficult for a third party to modify the BIOS themselves.

You could always attempt overclocking your processor, but you must know the risks.
1 answer
Because it makes the CPU run hotter

In short, No. "Overclocking" is when you edit the setting in your bios to push your CPU further than it was intended to go. Nothing "causes" overclocking. However if you have already overclocked your PC then it may be possible for everquest to push your CPU to ghz above your stock CPU.

I would go for the extra .4 ghz.

Overclocking refers to the practice of increasing a computer's CPU or GPU clock rate to run at a faster speed than originally intended by the manufacturer. This can potentially improve performance, but may also increase heat generation and reduce hardware lifespan if not done carefully.

Intel is a personal computer component company that has an easy to use overclocking feature.
Another PC maker that had the over clocking tool in 2009, was Micro-Star International. It's a company based in Taiwan and the PC's are made in China.

The highest speed i've known that is safe to do to a CPU is 4.0 GHz. And even then that required Overclocking.

CPU speeds range from around 1.6 Ghz to around 3.6 Ghz

you can increase you computer speed if you want to .. it's called overclocking.. I can't go into the details here. but overclocking will void your warranty.

You should have some kind of "control panel" for your card look around in there. -- Actually, a really nice control panel for those sorts of things is "ntune". http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html It's a control panel for pretty much anything with graphics... not just overclocking.

Would would depend upon the make and model of the processor, as well as how adequate your cooling system is.

Its called overclocking, though it is not suggested it can be done through the BIOS settings
1 answer
usually you can not acculy do this though the normal Operatig system. Some BIOS versions have options for optimizations but the safest best way i belive to tweek it is overclocking. Find a overclocking software like nvidia is the safest one and just let it do the 3 hour optimization. If you have a custem PC make sure your cooling is good check ur temps on a idle baseline and then do a baseline on peek performace. Then compair after over clocking. If your components get to hot reset the overclocking back to defaults.

You should look up "overclocking". Its a pretty popular thing to do at the moment.

Overclocking is the process of running components past their specified rates. Throttling is the process of reducing the rate at which the component runs. Throttling is often included in the design specs of a processor, so there is usually no danger in it. When you run components below the rate that they are rated for (even for throttling limits), this is generally known as underclocking.

High GPU temperature can be caused by factors such as poor airflow in the PC case, a malfunctioning or dusty GPU fan, overclocking the GPU, or running demanding tasks or games for extended periods. It is important to ensure proper ventilation in the case, clean the GPU fan regularly, avoid excessive overclocking, and monitor the GPU temperature to prevent damage.

A system overclocks when the voltage is changed manually by the user. Due to this overclocking, there is a high risk for every component of the system, mostly, the processor.. The processor gets over heated soon and the system resets or throws errors..
In my point of view, its recommended not to change the voltage specification of the system..

Overclocking a computer too far out of its specifications can cause any number of problems. The most likely reason for the computer not powering on correctly after overclocking is that the memory bus has been pushed too high and the RAM cannot be written to properly.
You should be able to boot the computer by moving the recovery jumper on the motherboard, so you can access the BIOS and change the settings back. Alternatively, most BIOS these days will automatically revert the overclocked settings if it detects that the system has not booted three or more times consecutively. There may also be a button on the board to do this manually without moving the jumper.

If you are talking about the top speed a CPU can go, that is usually measured by overclocking the processor, which makes it faster than it already is. So the fastest clock speed would be whatever the overclocking speed is. If you were asking about the fastest clock speed for a CPU on the market is right now, that would probably be around 4.0 GHz. Hope I answered your question right! SeanHolshouser

Not really. However, aftermarket coolers are often designed a little better and built a little more robustly.
