The word 'ipone' comes from the Japanese word 'ippon', which means one full point. That point is the highest score that may be achieved by a fighter in martial arts contests, such as Judo, Jujutsu, or Karate. The French version of the word most notably dates back to 1985, when a company of the name Ipone, for motorbike and motorcycle specific lubricants and oils, was started up in Aix-en-Provence.

Oh no; Judo is pretty well balanced when it comes to offensive and defensive moves. In fact, the legendary Masahiko Kimura's favorite move was Osoto Gari, a move which he used to win many tourneys. Kimura developed his pectoral muscles to the point where he could bench press over 400 lbs, that way, when he performed Osoto Gari, the slam would knock the wind out of his opponents, which in turn gave Kimura time to score a pin, or an ippon. Osoto Gari is not going to hurt the opponent, even if done by someone strong, however it will knock the wind out of them if done with enough force which, someone as strong as Kimura could generate.

In my karate, we do a type of karate called Tang so doo. There is also taekwondo, which is more action while Tang So Doo is more defensive. There are forms and different types of defence rules and you learn the proper kicks like round kick, side kick and front snap kick. There is basically two sides to karate training, katas and kumite. Katas are a predefined sequence of movements against an imaginary opponent and kumite is the practice of individual moves. This can be done in pairs ippon and ju ippon kumite or by ones self. A lesson can also include sparing, self defence and other exercises

There are two opponents, both wearing gees (not sure about that spelling) who "spar" on a mat about 10 by 10. to win a match, you must get a full point (epone). to get a full point, you can throw your opponent flat on their back or pin them for 25 seconds. there are also half points, quarter points (which don't add up), and penalties (which are quarter points). you can be thrown out of a match/competition by getting 4 penalties. there is 1 ref, backed up by 2 corner judges, who help him with the points and stuff.

1. First and foremost
Sumimasen. Sue Me Mah Sen. Translated it means excuse me or sorry. But It is almost the most versatile phrase there is. Japanese use it for excuse me or sorry, to get attention, to politely start a conversation/question. It's also used for thank-you and even please.
2. kore WA(this when it's closest to the speaker), sore WA(closest to listener), are WA (far from both speaker and listener)
3....onegai shimasu (please do for me) for what you want to buy. eg, kore WA onegai shimasu (this please)
4....ikura desu ka (how much) eg, sore WA ikura desu ka (how much is this/that)
5.nihongo ga hanase-masen (I cant speak Japanese)
6. eigo ga wakarimasu ka (do you understand English?)
7. biru ippon/hitotsu onegai shimasu (1 bottle/other of beer please)
8. awa nashi onegai shimasu (no head on the beer - in japan 60-70% beer and 40-30% head is a good pour be aware your glass comes with the tide out but that is normal of all drinks)
9.wasabi nuki (no wasabi)
10.kujira arimasu ka (do you have whale?) You'd be amazed who ends up with this research product.
Okay after 4 I left to drink and then returned so it's a little ummmm, well you decide how useful it could be. :-)
By the way it really, really helps if you learn how to pronounce the vowels, Japanese people are not used to hearing foreigners speak Japanese so their listening skills are pretty poor. Get those vowels right and the rest (for the basic day to day stuff anyway) is easy.

In W T F (Olympic style) taekwondo sparring the following techniques are allowed
Players can punch (with a clenched fist).
And kick with any part of the foot below the ankle.
And that's it. No other techniques are allowed only punches and kicks.
Players can kick to two places: the opponent's chest protector or head.
Players can punch the opponent's chest protector. (Although it's got to be a very powerful punch to score!)
Punches to the head or face are not allowed.
Players can't kick or punch their opponent's spine or below the chest protector.
Taekwondo sparring rules - scoring points
One point for a basic attack to the chest protector (for example a basic turning kick).
Two points for a kick to the chest protector if the kick involves a spinning technique - (this includes back kick).
Three points for a head kick.
To score a point the punch or kick has to be accurate and powerful.
Light tapping kicks do not score.
In major competitions, chest protectors now have electronic scoring systems in them.
These are adjusted to take into account the weight category of the competitors.
(Heavier players have to kick harder to score a point.)
For head kicks and if non-electronic hogus are used then at least 3 judges have to see the point and score it at the same time.
The judges push a button when they see a point.
How is the winner decided?
At the end of 3 rounds (2 for juniors) the winner is the player with the most points.
A knock out is also a win.
If it's a draw after 3 rounds then there is a golden point round. The first player to score a point wins.
If no-one scores a golden point then the winner is the player who shows the best technique in the golden point round.

In both Rugby Union and Rugby League, an illegal (or more properly termed "dangerous") tackle is penalised by a penalty kick.
Examples of illegal/dangerous tackles include:
- tackling the ball-carrier while they are in mid-air
- high tackle (above the shoulders)
- "spear" tackle (where the ball-carrier is lifted into the air and thrown down on their neck or head)
- "charging" (where the tackler makes no effort to grapple the ball-carrier but simply hurls their body at them)
- kicking, striking or tripping the ball-carrier (although in Rugby League, where the tackler and ball-carrier are in close contact and stationary, the tackler can trap the ball-carrier's feet with his own to effect the tackle, provided this is not done dangerously*)
- tackling the ball-carrier either before or after they have the ball
At the referee's discretion, a player committing an illegal or dangerous tackle may be cautioned by the use of a yellow card which is also usually accompanied by the player being suspended from play for 10 minutes. A second yellow card will be followed by a red card and the player being sent off the field for the rest of the match.
In cases of particular danger to players' personal safety, the offending tackler may be sent off immediately for a first offence.
The full code of laws for Rugby Union and Rugby League respectively in England may be found at:

* For those who have knowledge of Judo, examples of "safe" throws would be e.g. kosoto gari or kouchi gari, since in these the tackled player falls directly to the floor on their back, and under control. Examples of potentially dangerous throws include osoto-gari, o goshi, tomoe nage, ippon-seoi-nage, or indeed most loin/hip/shoulder throws, since the tackled player is likely to be thrown in mid-air and land on their shoulders. Experienced players may be able to manage subtle hip or loin throws, but at risk of being penalised for dangerous play.

To win a judo Round, you need to get an ippon (10 points) two wazari's (7 points each) or to have the most coca's (3 points, but these dont count unless you go overtime) at the end of the match. Rounds last 3 minutes unless one person wins beforehand with an ippon or two wazari's OR it will go into overtime, where the first throw executed wins.
