Modernist writers used fragmentation in many ways. An example of how it was used would be James Joyce, who used a very fragmented poem to portray the decay and fragmentation of western culture. Through the poem lacking a central, unifying theme, the writer exhibited what they felt was happening to the culture of the time.

No, unfortunately not. I have been looking for ways to improve the performance too. I recommend you switch graphics to fast, turn off smooth lighting and turn render distance to tiny and just make the best out of it. Close all other programs, and if you're using a laptop you should always have the cable plugged in when playing Minecraft. You also need to maintain the computer by doing disk fragmentations and cleaning up registry and all those small things. I recommend you download TuneUp Utilities. It costs some money (I think it's $40) but it's worth it. After I started using it, Minecraft and other games lag a bit less.

The ion collector in Dempster's mass spectrometer gathers and detects ions separated based on their mass-to-charge ratios. It collects the ions after they have been accelerated and deflected by the electric and magnetic fields in the instrument, allowing for accurate measurement of ion abundance and mass. The ion collector ultimately produces a mass spectrum that can be used to identify and quantify the ions present in the sample.

Contiguous memory allocation scheme suffers from external fragmentation as address spaces are allocated contiguously and holes develop as old processes die and new processes are initiated. It also does not allow processes to share code, since a process's virtual memory segment is not broken into non-contiguous fine-grained segments.
Pure segmentation also suffers from external fragmentation as a segment of a process is laid out contiguously in physical memory and fragmentation would occur as segments of dead processes are replaced by segments of new processes. Segmentation, however, enables processes to share code; for instance, two different processes could share a code segment but have distinct date segments.
Pure paging does not suffer from external fragmentation, but instead suffers from internal fragmentations. Processes are allocated in page granularity and if a page is not completely utilized, it results in internal fragmentation and a corresponding wastage of space. Paging also enables processes to share code at the granularity of pages.

Do a Defrag. Go to START, PROGRAMS, ASSESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, then do a system cleanup, then defrag.
Clean up any unused programs on your PC. Go to Control Panel, ADD/Remove Programs and remove anything (kid games, etc) you know you don't use for sure. If you're not sure, don't do it.
Kim Komando has some good info at her site www.komando.com and there is a good software package (not expensive) that I bought at Costco called SYSTEM MECHANIC that will do system diagnostics. They probably even have a download for sale on the net. Or at Amazon.
Another thought is just to go to Google and type in your laptop brand and "slow boot up" or "slow start up". I have found lots of nerd discussion boards with useful info this way. Good ideas from others who have had similar challenges on a multitude of problems. MSN has discussion boards on computer problems, for example. As does Microsoft. Click on Tools, Windows Update, and do your updates, then surf around the site for troubleshooting info. If all else fails, go to Data Doctors or another Computer Geek fix it shop and they will usually take care of it.

4. Scan and fix Windows registry on your slow speed laptop. Perhaps you will ask that why you can speed up your laptop by cleaning registry errors. Registry stores all of the configuration settings in the system like a brain to human. Any incorrect registry settings, corrupted registry will make your laptop run unstable.
