No. God created man to have freedom of choice. We choose to follow God or not. Though God knows who would choose Him, we get the choice to do so. It is not easy to reconcile the foreknowledge of God with the freedom to choose because God is outside of time and we are created in time. But "God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentence." Predestination talks about it being determined, but the verse, "Whom he did foreknow, he did also predestinate to be conformed unto the image of His Son, Jesus Christ", is talking about those whom God knew would choose Him, He predetermined or predestined, that they would walk after the manner of Christ

Absolutely not. Men have free will - even to follow God's word or not... but these persons have to endure the consequences then, too.

As this is a good question and a short is just showing the main parts I would would recommend to look it up directly in a bible.

Yes, but it is not called Predetermination but predestined.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate.... Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Romans 8:29-30

Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. Ephesians 1:4-5

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation. Jude 4

Because in life you have to learn a lot of lessons, big or small ones. In order to learn these lessons you have to go through some tough experiences sometimes. Those tough experiences help us to grow. No one ever told us that this life would be easy. Life is about challenges and problems and how you over come them. It is how we respond to these problems that God is interested in!

Answer: God does not cause bad things to happen. Does he, though, incite others to commit vile deeds? Not at all. "When under trial," state the Scriptures, "let no one say: 'I am being tried by God.'" Why? Because "with evil things God cannot be tried, nor does he himself try anyone." (James 1:13) God does not try, or test, anyone by inciting him to behave badly. God neither causes bad things to happen nor incites others to do what is bad. Who or what, then, is to blame when bad things happen?

Identifying one reason why humans suffer, the Bible states: "Time and unexpected events overtake them all." (Ecclesiastes 9:11) When unanticipated events or accidents happen, whether someone is affected or not depends to a large extent on where he is at the time they occur. Nearly 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ spoke of a calamity involving 18 people who were killed when a tower fell on them. (Luke 13:1-5) They did not become victims because of the way they had lived their lives; they were simply under the tower when it happened to fall. A devastating earthquake struck Haiti in January 2010; the Haitian government says that over 300,000 lives were lost. All those lives were claimed without regard for who the individuals were. Illnesses too can strike anyone at any time.

Some might ask: 'Could not God prevent such deadly calamities from happening? Could he not shield the good people from the calamity?' For God to intervene in such ways, it would mean that he knows about bad things before they happen. While God certainly has the ability to foreknow the future, the question we need to consider is this: Does God choose to exercise to a limitless extent his power to foreknow such things?-Isaiah 42:9.

The Scriptures say: "God is in the heavens; he does whatever he pleases." (Psalm 115:3) Jehovah does what he deems necessary to do-not everything he is capable of doing. That applies also to what he decides to foresee. For example, after wickedness became prevalent in the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, God told the patriarch Abraham: "I will go down to see whether they are acting according to the outcry that has reached me. And if not, I can get to know it." (Genesis 18:20, 21) For a time, Jehovah chose not to know the extent of the wickedness in those cities. Similarly, then, Jehovah can choose not to foreknow everything. (Genesis 22:12) In no way is this an indication of imperfection or weakness on his part. Since "perfect is his activity," God balances his ability to foreknow the future with his purpose; he never forces humans to follow a certain course.* (Deuteronomy 32:4) What, then, may we conclude? Simply this: God's exercise of foreknowledge is selective and discretionary.

Part of the blame for wickedness lies with humans. Notice how the Bible describes a process that can lead to harmful acts. "Each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn sin, when it has been carried out, brings forth death." (James 1:14, 15) When individuals act on improper desires or give in to wrong cravings, they are bound to suffer bad consequences. (Romans 7:21-23) As history shows, humans have committed horrendous acts and caused immense suffering. Moreover, wicked men can influence others to become corrupt, thus perpetuating badness.-Proverbs 1:10-16.

Humans have committed horrendous acts and caused immense suffering

The primary cause of wickedness, though, is not man. Satan the Devil, originally a faithful angel of God, "did not stand fast in the truth" and brought sin into the world. (John 8:44) He instigated a rebellion in the garden of Eden. (Genesis 3:1-5) Jesus Christ called him "the wicked one" and "the ruler of the world." (Matthew 6:13; John 14:30) Mankind in general follow Satan by heeding his urgings to ignore the good ways of Jehovah. (1 John 2:15, 16) "The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one," says 1 John 5:19. There are other spirit creatures who have turned wicked and have joined Satan. The Bible indicates that Satan and his demons are "misleading the entire inhabited earth," causing "woe for the earth." (Revelation 12:9, 12) Thus, the principal blame for wickedness has to be placed on Satan the Devil.

The basic Answer is: Christ's life. "Let this mind [attitude, frame of mind, understanding] be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." Philippians 2:5.

The Apostle Paul makes it clear that it is God's purpose for us to be like Christ in Romans 8:28,29: "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren." God in omniscience (as all-knowing) knew those who would believe and trust Christ as the one who paid for their sins on the Cross. A true Christian should sense that God is leading him to be more and more like Christ.

The Apostle John instructed in 1 John 2:3-6: "And hereby we do know that we know him (Christ Jesus), if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked." The one who says that he surely knows Christ, is only telling the truth, if he endeavors wholeheartedly to keep the commandments and instructions that Christ gave. If he does this, he has assurance in his heart that he is one of the children of God through Christ.

Then the obligation for that Christian is to walk in the same way that Christ did (v.6). This is beyond our natural abilities, so we need to have God's strength to move in that direction. As Paul said, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:13. Not to be thinking that we somehow have arrived in this, Paul says, "Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:12-14.

Simply put, we are not to think ht we have obtained perfection, but need to "press on" to be more like Christ, realizing the "prize" or reward of God awaits those Christians who earnestly strive to do right. It is a "high calling" for anyone, only possible to move towards in Christ's strength.

I am looking for the answer to this question as well, but I can contribute a basis for understanding Augustine's argument.

From my university lectures, I gathered that God (which can be made analogous to the Platonic One for those who have an understanding of this) thinks outside of time in an eternal present governed by the providential plan. Based on this providential plan, all the actions in the eternal present (and thus in all of time as it is perceived by us through our temporal minds) are known to God. So it is not such that God knows ahead, per se (as this would suggest the defeat of free will), but rather, God knows outside of time what we chose in time. In a way he foreknows what we will choose: but beware here; my prof explained that foreknow can be subject to different interpretations.

This is an account for what i gathered from the lectures on his work,On Free Choice of the Will, but I delved a little deeper and took a look at Confessions:

Here he gives an interesting account of time that anticipates Boethius when he describes how time is imaginary and a human "misperception", if you will. Augustine says that the division of time in order to establish it as a distinction between the three temporal frames: past, present, and future, is illusionary because time can be infinitely divided and in this way it is demonstrated how one can never be said to be living in a present state of time.

Here is where I am going to make an interjection, so bear in mind this isn't Augustine anymore, but this concept might help you understand the concept of existing atemporally (outside of time):

The space-time relationship is very strong, the two are bound to each other synonymously in physics. It is generally understood as an illumination of this principle that the farther you travel in space, the further back in time you travel. In the ancient Greek geo-centric universe articulate by Aristotle, combined with the Platonian One and Augustine's notions of God's identity and characterisation, they form to point to a distinction when coupled with the aforementioned physical principles of space and time:

The One/God/The Good, is all of being in its totality. Much like all the cells individually contribute to make you, all matter contributes to form the One divine mind (God) and it goes about in its natural order (the providential plan) outside of time, but experienced temporally by those who fail to unite with the One and see things as God sees them. This explains why God does not know in time, because he is outside of time physically speaking. It also explains why we fail to understand God (in the same way one of our cells doesn't understand us or sees things as we see them). We are independent of our true identity of God who made us in his image, and exists through us. These religious sayings have the philosophical undertones that can be applied to Platonism and modern physics.

Predestination is a religious idea, under which the relationship between the beginning of things and the destiny of things is discussed. Its religious nature distinguishes it from other ideas concerning determinism and free will, and related concepts. In particular, predestination concerns God's decision to create and to govern Creation, and the extent to which God's decisions determine ahead of time what the destiny of groups and individuals will be. * God determines who is going to heaven ... "And as many as were ordained to eternal life believed." -- Acts 13:48 "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate.... Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified." -- Romans 8:29-30 "Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began." -- 2 Timothy 1:9 "He hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will." -- Ephesians 1:4-5 "God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation." -- 2 Thessalonians 2:13 * and who is going to hell. "God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned." -- 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation." -- Jude 4 * There's nothing you can do about it. "For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth; It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction." -- Romans 9:11-22

According to the Bible and Christian Belief,Jesus is God's only begotten son. In terms of all who have become Christian believers we are all God's children. Christ thus has a unique position, since He is God's only begotten but He will also 'lead many sons (and daughters, implied) to glory.' These will never be 'God's' as taught by some cults, but will nevertheless achieve 'glory' in heaven with Him, solely of course by what Jesus has done on the cross of calvary.

Answer:

As the Bible states it...No. Jesus is the Father's "firstBORN" Son. The Father is creating the Family of God, which the Bible clearly reveals... but which men steadfastly refuse to believe.

"...the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD..." (Rom.8:16).

It doesn't get clearer than that.

The Father has "begotten" many children over the past nearly 6000 years. Many have died and: "...did not receive the things promised... These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect." (Heb.11:13 & 39-40 NIV)

To this very day, begotten children of God are struggling in the world to be born the second time like those who have "died in faith." Jesus is the firstborn Son of God of many future siblings.

"For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn AMONG MANY BRETHREN." (Rom.8:29)

For the present time, Jesus is the Father's only "born-again" Son. Born immortal, unable to die any more. But, many, many more are developing and growing and struggling to be born, being fed by the nourishment of God's Word, the Bible, the Bread of Life.

Jesus is also called "the Deliverer":

"...there shall come out of Sion the Deliverer..." (Rom.11:26).

Jesus will not just deliver His Father's children from their trials and tribulations. At his coming... He will deliver them in their re-birth... into the Family of God... and they shall inherit the promises for which they've hoped, believed and patiently waited.

"...so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at His coming." (I Cor.15:22-23)

"...and if Children, then heirs; HEIRS OF GOD, and JOINT-HEIRS WITH CHRIST..." (Rom.8:17).

God's ONLY Son? No. The Family of God shall have too many children to count: "...so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable..." (Heb.11:12).

Now, that's a Father!
Well, Yes and No. Jesus is God's only true son. However we are all God's children.

ANOTHER ANSWER:

"God" as inspired in the Old Testament ['elohiym {el-o-heem'}] is "plural"... more than one! It's comparable to the word "family, or group, club, association, etc." In the case of "God"... it's probably best, in order for our finite minds to get some small grasp on it, to think of "God" as a "family" name [like Jones, Miller, Smith, etc]; one family, made up of more than one member. Which, according to the Bible, is presently TWO: the Father and the Son...

"I and My Father ARE ONE." (John 10:30)

...but eventually to become populated with the rebirth of mankind into God's Family as "God's Children" -- the future Immortal Family of God! TOO MANY CHILDREN TO COUNT!

"Then the LORD brought Abram outside beneath the night sky and told him, 'Look up into the heavens and COUNT THE STARS if you can. Your descendants [the Faithful Children of God's future Immortal Family -- see Gal.3:7-8 & verse 29] WILL BE LIKE THAT - TOO MANY TO COUNT!' And Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD declared him Righteous because of his Faith." (Gen.15:5-6 NLT New Living Translation)

"The [Holy] Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD: and if Children, then HEIRS; HEIRS OF GOD, and JOINT-HEIRS WITH CHRIST..." (Rom.8:16).

"...For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to BE CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON [fathers create their children in their own image], that He might be THE FIRSTBORN AMONG MANY BRETHREN..." (Rom.8:29).

"For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection from the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so IN CHRIST shall ALL BE MADE ALIVE. But every man in his own order: CHRIST THE FIRSTFRUITS; afterward they that are Christ's AT HIS COMING." (I Cor.15:21-23)

"He that overcometh shall INHERIT ALL THINGS[the UNIVERSE!]; and I will be his God, and he shall BE MY SON." (Rev.21:7)

For most men the concept of "God" is beyond the finite human mind... especially, since so few people seem to able to grasp the Truth of what the Bible clearly says. But God gave man, the Children of His future Family, the physical "human birth process" to reveal to man what He is doing with mankind, "spiritually"... which is PROCREATING HIMSELF through mankind, created in "God's image." Just as each of us underwent a great change in our struggle to be born the first time; so shall our "second birth" result in a great change in us all:

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep [die], but WE SHALL ALL BE CHANGED, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye... the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and WE SHALL BE CHANGED... and this MORTAL must put on IMMORTALITY." (I Cor.15:51-53)

"And God said, 'Let US make man in OURimage, after OUR likeness..." (Gen.1:26).

"God" is called by many names in the Scriptures... but no name can be more personal than for every man, as God's Child, to call Him "Father" for now. But, Jesus assures us that each of us shall one day bear His Father's name... whatever it may prove to be:

"Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the Temple of My God, and he shall go no more out: and I WILL WRITE UPON HIM THE NAME OF MY GOD, and the name of the City of My God, which is New Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from My God: and I WILL WRITE UPON HIM MY NEW NAME. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." (Rev.3:12-13)

Human beings have free will to make choices but are also influenced by external factors such as genetics, upbringing, and societal norms. The extent of human freedom can vary depending on individual circumstances and constraints. Ultimately, the concept of freedom is complex and nuanced, and different perspectives exist on this issue.

Everything is not predestined in the Bible. God has made promises in the Bible that WILL come true (Isaiah 55:10, 11) But he did not predestine everything. For example throughout the Bible he encourages people to trust in him, that wouldn't make sense if he already knew what is going to happen and what decisions we were going to make.

However, that doesn't mean he will grant ever prayer made to him because it has to be in line with his will and purpose (1 John 5:14).

I hope that helps a little.

Answer:

The use of predestinate in the Bible is limited to those whom God is calling now to know and understand His Truth... His Word. These "predestinated" ones are in training during this "dispensation of time" to prepare themselves, in obedience to His instruction and discipline, to one day co-rule the Kingdom of God with Christ at His second coming.

"...he that overcometh, and keepeth My works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron..." (Rev.2:26-27).

"...the saints of the Most High shall take the Kingdom, and possess the Kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever... judgment was given to the saints of the Most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the Kingdom..." (Dan.7:18 & 22).

"Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world..." (Matt.25:34).

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the Children of God: and if Children, then Heirs; Heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together." (Rom.8:16-17)

"...we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose. For whom He did foreknow, He ALSO DID PREDESTINATE TO BE CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON, that He might be the Firstborn among many brethren." (Rom.8:28-29)

In the very few instances in the Bible of the use of "predestination"... it is always in conjunction with those whom God is calling to prepare for positions of rulership [offices of leadership as "kings and priests" of God] in the Kingdom of God on earth with Christ [the 'mansions' Jesus is preparing for them].

Jesus Christ is making: "...us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth." (Rev.5:10)

"Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Rom.8:30-31)

"According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of Children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will..." (Eph.1:4-5).

"That in the dispensation of the fulness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him: in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinatedaccording to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will: that we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted in Christ." (verses 10-12)

There is no passage in the Bible, regarding predestination, that alludes that anyone is "predestined to be lost." It is always in conjunction with the "called-out-ones" of God... His "elect"... whom He is calling to attain to the "first resurrection" at Christ's second coming, to become the first generation of God's Children. The trained leaders of God's future Family and of His House... the coming Kingdom of God.

"Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years." (Rev.20:6)

It's these "predestinated" ones that God is calling now, who shall lead and guide all the blinded and deceived nations of the earth in the righteous ways of God, later... when man's allotted time of Godless and errant rule on earth is done.

This is certainly a philosophical question. Are we really in control of our own destiny, or are we meant to feel we are in control of our own destiny, but when, in fact, it is destiny leading us where we should be going? LOL This gets complicated because in pops religion for some people. I'm a Christian and feel that God has a plan for me (and for others) and I do know I'm here to be the best person I can be, yet I find as I get a little older there is a gnawing that there is something I MUST do before my life on this earth is ended. This is a great debate and everyone will have their opinions on this one. ==new answer== The destiny for all of us is that we grow up to be like the one who created us. This plan is housed within the superconscious mind and is always seeking a way to draw it to our conscious attention through subconscious mind.

The feeling of, meant to be, usually comes from the decision we made before we entered this physical body and no matter how hard you try, you will not make it go away. Most do not remember.

Beyond this, we create in our thoughts the reality we will experience which is then re-created through subconscious mind. It seems that someone else is pulling the strings but actually, we are.

The best way is to make our goals in life count toward our real progression. In religious philosophy, this question is related to that of free-will vs. predestination i.e I make a choice vs. I was meant to make a specific choice. The answer varies somewhat depending on the interpretation however, many of those variances are due to a basic misunderstanding of the question itself. It is better understood as a question of the difference between our perspective on reality and God's (or fate's). The simple explanation is this: "I" am a linear being. I experience reality as a sequence of events. I come to a choice, make it according to my own judgement, and proceed onward along that new path. Hence the concept of free-will. "God", fate, or destiny is a non-linear being, concept, or whatever, existing outside of the flow of events, experiencing all points of time simutaneously. Hence, all choices that will be made, are made, and were made. Hence, predestination. As such, these concepts are not mutually exclusive but instead indicate varying perspectives.

Answer2: The "Logic" of Predestination

Some who believe in predestination reason basically as follows: God is omniscient. He knows everything, even what is going to happen in the future. He knows what each person is going to do with his life, and he already knows the exact moment and manner of each person's death. So, according to their thinking, when the time comes for an individual to make a decision, his choice cannot be other than the way God has foreseen and foreordained it; otherwise, God would not be all-knowing. Does this reasoning seem sound to you? Consider what its logical consequences would be.

If some force has already determined your future, then trying to take care of yourself is useless. Choosing to smoke or not to smoke would make no difference to your health or that of your children. Wearing a seat belt while riding in an automobile would have no effect on your safety. But this is faulty logic. Statistics show that people who take precautions suffer fewer fatal consequences. Carelessness can result in tragedy.

Consider another line of reasoning. If God chooses to foreknow everything, then even before he made Adam and Eve, he would have known that they would disobey him. But when God told Adam that he must not eat from "the tree of the knowledge of good and bad" or he would die, did God already know that Adam would eat from it? (Genesis 2:16, 17) When God told the first couple: "Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth," did he know that their wonderful prospect of life in a paradise was doomed to failure? Of course not.-Genesis 1:28.

Taken to its logical conclusion, the idea that God foreknows all decisions would mean that he is responsible for all that happens-including wars, injustices, and suffering. Is that possible? A clear answer is provided by what God says about himself. (Taken from 5/07 Awake magazine on Jehovah's Witnesses official website)

He choose them all at diffrent times and locations. I think that's something your going to either have to look up in the bible or google it :)

Answer:

Jesus didn't choose them... His Father chose them for Him:

"I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest Me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them Me..." (John 17:6).

"...Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given Me, that they may be as one, as we are... I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest Me, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled." (verses 11-12)

Like the chosen of God who went before... God knew the disciples before the foundation of the world.

"...Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee..." (Jer.1:5).

The disciples were among the "predestinated" of God.

"...them who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brethren.

"Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified." (Rom.8:28-30)

Like Jeremiah, above, however, who didn't know that He was chosen and called until the "timing" of it was right ["...to whom the Word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah..." - Jer.1:2]... so did the disciples find out about their calling only when it was their time.

Like the rest of Judaea in those days, who watched and followed the works of John the Baptist with great interest and anticipation of his revealing the Messiah to them, according to the prophecy:

"...Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful Day of the Lord: and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children..." (Malachi 4:6).

When John revealed Jesus' identity to Peter's brother, Andrew, who was one of his own disciples at the time... the coming together of Jesus and His disciples began:

"...looking upon Jesus as He walked, he [John] saith, Behold the Lamb of God! And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. Then Jesus turned, and saw them following... they came and saw where He dwelt, and abode with Him that day..." (John 1:36-39).

"...One of the two which heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus..." (verses 40-42).

Everyone in Judaea was looking around them, wondering which one of them was the Messiah. Then one day... when the time was right... John pointed Him out.

The disciples were "chosen" before the foundation of the world by the Father in heaven.

But Jesus didn't let them know it until after He had succeeded in defeating Satan in the famed "temptation" account, which qualified Him as "King" to depose Satan's authority on earth... and not until John the Baptist was put in prison.

Timing was everything. Jesus' ministry didn't begin until those two things occurred. He could not call His disciples into a ministry that didn't exist. Satan had to be deposed as the god of this world for the new "King" and His "Kingdom" to be declared... and John the Baptist's ministry had to end:

"...He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30)

"...the Spirit driveth Him into the wilderness. And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto Him. Now after that John was put into prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God..." (Mark 1:12-14).

That was the time when Jesus... who was now preaching the Kingdom of God, and was known to them as the long-anticipated Messiah... began to approach them and command them to "follow" Him.

"...And they straightway left their nets, and followed Him." (Matt.4:20)

According to the Bible... in God's plan for mankind, He has "predestined" or preordained certain people throughout man's generations to be "called, justified, and glorified" to "be conformed to the image of His Son"... or to become the first generation of His Children; the future Family of God.

"...we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who ARE THE CALLED according to His purpose. For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the FIRSTBORN AMONG MANY BRETHREN. Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified." (Rom.8:28-30)

Much of modern religion believes that everyone's lives are "predetermined" by God... our life's path all laid out and planned out for us. But, that's not what the Bible says.

"Predestination" in the Bible is always used in reference to the ones God is calling to be saved... and NEVERin reference to "anyone born to be lost."

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: according as He hath chosen us in Him BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD, that we should be HOLY and WITHOUT BLAME before Him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of Children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved." (Eph.1:3-6)

"Having made known unto us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He hath purposed in Himself: that in the DISPENSATION OF THE FULNESS OF TIMES HE MIGHT GATHER IN ONE ALL THINGS IN CHRIST, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him: in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will: that we should be to the praise of His glory, who FIRST TRUSTED IN CHRIST.

"In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the Word of Truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory." (Eph.1:9-14)

That's all the Bible says specifically about "predestination."

What is indicated beyond that is that the Father in heaven is "calling" these predestined to eventually "INHERIT ANDRULE THE KINGDOM OF GOD WITH JESUS CHRIST" when the timing in His plan is right -- which will be when He has "filled all the Kingdom offices and positions of authority and rulership" with these, the first generation of His Children.

Jesus says: "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." (John 14:2)

Modern religion has taken this fabulous Truth and turned it into a "home in heaven"... instead of what it really says... His promise to make them rulers with Him in the Kingdom. Jesus referred to the Temple as "His Father's house":

"...make not My Father's house an house of merchandise." (John 2:16)

Within the Temple of God were "many chambers" or "offices" [or mansions] from which different people from different walks of life made it operate and function.

"...bring them into the House of the Lord, into one of the chambers..." (Jer.35:2).

"...I brought them into the House of the Lord [the Temple], into the CHAMBER of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the CHAMBER of the princes, which was above the CHAMBER of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door..." (Jer.35:4).

The "PREDESTINED" of God are to become the "co-rulers" with Christ in the Kingdom of God when He returns and establishes it on earth -- when the time is right.

This "time" no one knows but the Father, because He knows what jobs and offices need filling. He knows who and how many He needs to "call" to fill those positions.

He has given them to His Son to train and "conform" to the Truth and the ways of God... that they in turn, will be able to teach the nations the ways of God when they finally inherit the Kingdom.. and rule.

"...the saints of the Most High shall take the Kingdom, and possess the Kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever." (Dan.7:18)

"...the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given unto the saints of the Most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the Kingdom." (verse 22)

And when the mansions are all filled in the course of time throughout the generations of men, the Father will inform His Son to gather them unto Himself and establish His Kingdom on earth.

"Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of My Father, INHERIT THE KINGDOM PREPARED FOR YOU FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD." (Matt.25:34)

That's what "predestination" is about.

A image is a reflection of something or someone. Yes. According to scripture we are all Gods in the book of pslams 82:6.

No, when God created man in His own image The Bible means that man is similar to God in the sense that we have the same characteristics as He does. Such as love, compassion, kindness, anger, sadness, and hospitality. Man is definitely not God and God is definitely not man. When you look in a mirror you see an image of yourself. But is it you? No, it's just a likeness. This is the same thing with God creating man. We are not God, but we are similar to his likeness.

The only man that GOD created in GOD'S image was Adam who was made from the dust of the earth and was the perfection was having in him both the woman and the man, then he divided them and he was no longer perfect. Just as he took light out from the darkness and created the gods of light and darkness. The other man that was created perfect and was the image of the Invisible God was Jesus being perfect light without any darkness.

BY obedience ones faith becomes the power of ones potential that BE (even God)

additional/improved answer:

No. Man is not God. "Made in God's image" doesn't mean that we have God's powers, His love, His understanding, or anything else. It does mean a few things, though. It means we can communicate, we can learn, we can love, among so many other things, but it does NOT mean we are God or we are a god. God is unique, and He is the only God.

Answer:

Not yet. But, it is man's potential... and the reason for his being.

The English word, "God," is misleading as most men use it and perceive it today. We tend to think of God as a "person" instead of a "family," as the original inspired Hebrew word, "ELOHIM," means.

"Elohim" is a "uni-plural" word, like, "family" or "club" or "association." These are single units composed of more than one person, as the Genesis account reveals:

"...Let US make man in OUR image, after OURlikeness..." (Gen.1:26).

The "family" as God designed it, is a single unit led [ideally] by the father... whose rules are to be obeyed and adhered to by his children.

The Bible clearly reveals that Jesus Christ [the WORD or SPOKESMAN of God 'the Father' - John 1] was the "Creating Agent" of the "God Family" [Elohim] who both "spoke the words for, and performed the work for His Father, who is the HEAD OF THE HOUSEHOLD OF ELOHIM, and who has always remained in the background, silent and out of sight.

No man has ever seen the Father. "...the Father Himself, which hath sent Me, hath borne witness of Me. Ye have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His shape." (John 5:37)

It's Jesus who was and is the Creator God of the Old Testament who has always dealt with and spoken with the inspired people and saints of the biblical accounts.

It is He who later became the Firstborn Son of the Living God [the Father], to lead the way for mankind's salvation and their FUTURE BIRTH INTO ELOHIM.

"For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn AMONG MANY BRETHREN." (Rom.8:29)

According to "God the Father's" commands [before God was His Father] Jesus, the WORD, the LORD... made them "male and female." GOD MADE SEX!

And man was given a free hand in the creation of all their generations of children... the "future images of God" [God's future Children] for the duration of his allotted time of rule on the earth, while Christ and His Father worked with the spirits of men that God forms in men... and has been perfecting the "spirits" of men.

These "clay molds" that is mankind, are the nucleus from which the Father has been perfecting some for the immediate task of co-ruling the Kingdom of God when Jesus finally brings it to earth to teach all the nations and races of man God's ways, and completes man's salvation and his birth into the Family of God.

God the Father is "PRO-CREATING HIMSELF" into the FAMILY OF GOD.

"The [Holy] Spirit itself beareth witness WITH OUR SPIRIT, that WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD: and if Children, then Heirs; Heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ..." (Rom.8:16-17).

And at the end of God's plan... mankind will be born into Elohim's Family: "...IT IS DONE... He that overcometh SHALL INHERIT ALL THINGS [the UNIVERSE]; and I will be his God, and HE SHALL BE MY SON." (Rev.21:6-7)

Man is not God... yet. But some have been and are being "called"... begotten again of God. They have been "conceived" by the Father in their "spirit." And the Spirit of Christ is Living in them... their umbilical cord... supplying them with "spiritual nourishment"... feeding them on God's Bread, the Words of the Bible. These as yet, "unborn Children," are growing and developing in God's Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding... until their "Deliverer" comes.

Man shall become "God," however. And when he does... our Father will give His Children "ALL THINGS" [the universe] TO PLAY WITH.

"He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely GIVE US ALL THINGS?" (Rom.8:32)

"God [the Father]... hath in these last days spoken unto us BY HIS SON, whom He hath APPOINTED HEIR OF ALL THINGS [the universe], by whom also He made the worlds..." (Heb.1:1-2).

And if Children... then heirs; heirs of God, and JOINT-HEIRS WITH CHRIST!

But, not yet.

1 answer

the father, the son and the holy ghost.

Answer:

The inspired words in the Bible translated into the English, "God," [Old Testament: Elohim; New Testament: Theos] shows God to be a "uni-plural" word -- like the word "family." One family composed of more than one person.

John's chapter 1 reveals that JESUS CHRIST was in the beginning with the Father... before they had the Father and Son relationship that they do today. At that time... Jesus was the WORD [the LOGOS, Spokesman] for the Head of the God Family who would later be called "the Father" after the WORD emptied Himself of His Divine Nature and was born a mortal man.

The WORD of God [Elohim] SPOKE whatever the Head of the God Family commanded Him to say: things like "LET THERE BE LIGHT."

And the WORD of God DID everything God told Him to do: like "...Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness... So God created [the WORD did the creating as God commanded Him to do] man in His own image, in the image of God created He him..." (Gen.1:26-27).

God's creation of the mortal "family structure" among men reveals to those with the eyes to see... God's PURPOSE FOR MANKIND!

The Bible reveals that God [the Father in heaven, the HEAD OF THE GOD FAMILY] IS MAKING BABIES through His special creation, man, created IN HIS OWN IMAGE... just like men have been doing on earth since the beginning:

"...male and female created He them. And God [Elohim] blessed them, and, God [the WORD, Jesus Christ] said unto them, BE FRUITFUL, and MULTIPLY..." (Gen.1:27-28)

Which is EXACTLY what God has been doing [at the SPIRITUAL end of creation] and is still doing to this very day:

"The [Holy] Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD: and if Children, then Heirs; Heirs of God [Theos, the God Family], and Joint-Heirs WITH CHRIST; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may also be GLORIFIED TOGETHER." (Rom.8:16-18)

Contrary to the false doctrine of the "trinity" of God... Jesus reveals that "God" [Theos, the God Family] is presently made up of [TWO]... the Father and Himself:

"I AND MY FATHER ARE ONE." (John 10:30)

He doesn't say: I and My Father and the Holy Spirit are one. It's the Holy Spirt, the Power of God, that binds them and makes them One... just as it is the Holy Spirit of God that makes those whom God is calling to become His Children One.

"...Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given Me, that THEY MAY BE ONE, AS WE ARE." (John 17:11)

And the Bible reveals that Jesus is just the FIRST to be born into the IMMORTAL God Family from "mortal flesh." And that MANY BROTHERS will follow:

"For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON, that HE MIGHT BE THE FIRSTBORN AMONG MANY BRETHREN [brothers]." (Rom.8:29)

This wonderful "family theme" revealing man's potential is throughout the Bible... yet has been tragically missed by the generations of man... hidden from them... or has simply "not been believed" when read.

God is not "one person"... as God's creation of the human family reveals. The "Smith" family is made up of many people. "John Smith" is the "father"... the "head of the family." He and his wife are ONE in purpose and being, to create, rear and teach their children about God and Life. And his firstborn son... and ALL THE REST OF THEIR CHILDREN are also "Smith." Many, many members of one huge family... and all of them "Smith."

God is a 'Family.' A "growing" family. The WORD [Jesus Christ, Spokesman and Executor] for the Head of the God Family was in the beginning with God. The Head of Elohim gave Him His power to both "speak and act" on His behalf in dealing with man.

When Jesus says: "NO MAN HATH SEEN GOD AT ANY TIME..." (John1:18) -- it means that no man has seen THE FATHER. It has always been Jesus [the WORD] or His angel to whom Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, etc., who saw and/or spoke to God in the beginning.

For not only has no one seen the Father... but: "Ye have neither heard His voice at any time..." (John 5:37). It was also Jesus' voice they heard.

"...I DO NOTHING OF MYSELF; but as My Father hath taught Me, I SPEAK THESE THINGS." (John 8:28)

"For I have not spoken of Myself; but the Father which sent Me, He gave Me Commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that His Commandment is Life Everlasting: WHATSOEVER I SPEAK THEREFORE, EVEN AS THE FATHER SAID UNTO ME, SO I SPEAK." (John 12:49-50)

God doesn't change... He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

And so is Jesus' relationship with His Father from the beginning. He has been telling us exactly what His Father has been telling Him to tell us from the beginning. And He has always done what His Father has commanded Him.

It was JESUS CHRIST... the WORD [Spokesman] of God... who was in the beginning, before man was made, who SPOKE the Words of God... and who performed the works of God. And it was Jesus Christ who was and is the Creator God of the Old Testament.

"God [the Father], who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us BY HIS SON, whom He hath appointed Heir of all things [the universe], BY WHOM ALSO HE MADE THE WORLDS..." (Heb.1:1-2).

Jesus Christ, the WORD of God, was in the beginning WITHGod [the Father, before He was called Father and before the WORD became His Son]. It was Jesus Christ, the WORD, who said: "Let US make man in OUR image"... just as His future Father, the Head of the Household of the Immortal God Family, Elohim, commanded Him to say.

Don't put each other down.

This refers to several things which relate to the state of freedom enjoyed by the Christian believer.

It involves the fact that the Christian knows they are not 'under sentence of eternal death' in hell, due to the blood of Jesus. They are thus no longer under condemnation but are saved and free.

Secondly, as an outworking of this in actual experience they do not experience the comdemning voice of conscience, and are set free from the 'law of sin and death.' They may well have regrets and a desire to be better, but they are free from condemnation in that they know that this sentence cannot touch them. The condemnation of regret for past deeds cannot cripple them.

Romans 8 in its entirety is a description of how this works and feels. Such an experience is stated to be foreign to those who don't know Christ. The ultimate outworking or personal experience of this is a joyful and unhindered relationship with God such that there is a sure and confident and overpowering knowledge of the love of God.

The key of course is in the first verse, that this applies not just to all Christian believers but only to those who are walking 'after the Spirit' and not 'after the flesh'. Such people are following their true calling and not going back to old carnal and selfish sinful ways.

Romans 8:1-39 (King James Version)1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

10And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

19For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

20For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

21Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

22For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

23And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

24For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

26Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

31What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

32He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

33Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

34Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Firstfruit has different meanings in the Bible.

One use of "firstfruits" is a father's "first born" child... usually referring to a "son."

Regarding the "harvest"... the "firstfruits" is the "spring harvest" early in the year.

The two annual harvest seasons [the spring and fall] are symbolic representations in God's plan.

The "firstfruits" are those whom God is calling now, during this allotted time period which He's given to men to live, grow and experience life; to develop their unique character traits and personalities.

These "firstfruits" of the early phases of God's plan [the spring harvest] are being called to become the "first generation of God's future Family."

Jesus Christ is the Father's "Firstborn Son" -- the FIRST of the firstfruits.

"...Christ the Firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at His coming." (I Cor.15:23)

"Of His own will begat He us with the Word of Truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures." (James 1:18)

"For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn AMONG MANY BRETHREN [brothers]." IRom.8:29)

The "wages" that shall be paid out to all men comes at the end of both "harvests" of God's plan -- the "reward" [wages] all shall receive for the labors [works] they have wrought in the course of their lives.

Jesus' parables of the pounds and talents picture the wages men receive when the nobleman returns from the "far country"... from his "journey far away."

"...behold, I come quickly; and MY REWARD [wages, payment] is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be." (Rev.22:12)

"...he that overcometh, and keepeth My works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations..." (Rev.2:26).

"...and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." (Rev.20:12)

The "harvest of the firstfruits" [the early spring harvest: the early fulfillment of God's plan] is "still going on" in the world... and will continue until Jesus Christ returns.

The Father in heaven has a definite number in mind, as to how many Children He requires to rule, lead and govern the rest of the nations [the fall harvest] from His Kingdom that shall be established on earth by His Firstborn Son, the King, Jesus Christ. Only He knows how many Children He requires to become the First Generation of His Children... and the leaders and ruling generation... of His future Family. Not even His Son knows.

"...of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only." (Mark 13:32)

He has been giving them to His Son all during the "firstfruit" harvest [each sealed by His Holy Spirit, one by one] to teach, educate, develop and train through His Word for the jobs, offices and positions He has in mind for them to fill in the Kingdom for its smooth and efficient implementaion and operation when He returns to earth with it.

The "firstfruits" is an active and ongoing phase of God's plan. The early season of growth and development among mankind that shall yield a rich harvest of the first generation of God's Family. A talented, charismatic generation of exemplary leaders... honorable, trustworthy, loving elder brothers and sisters... who shall lead the rest of the nations [the fall harvest] to the Truth of God, and their ultimate entry [birth] into the Family of God.

The birth process is a trying, painful time:

"...We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, be we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies." (Rom.8:23 NIV)

Thus, did Christ lead the way in His painful death... and immortal rebirth... as the Firstborn Son of God... the Firstborn among many brethren and Children of God. He was the first to be "cut off" ... and accepted by His Father as the perfect Sacrifice to redeem His Children from Satan's wicked grip. Christ the leader and "Elder Brother " of those who would follow in His footsteps:

"...These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God." (Rev.14:4-5) [through Christ]

The harvest of the firstfruits will be revealed when Christ returns. He is the "Deliverer" in whose presence their births will come... when they shall receive their "salaries" -- their rewards; their leadership positions in His Kingdom over the nations.

"When the Son of Man shall come in His Glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His Glory: and before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate them one from another, as a Shepherd divideth His sheep from the goats: and He shall set the sheep on His right hand... Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of My Father, INHERIT THE KINGDOM[receive your wages] prepared for you from the foundation of the world..." (Matt.25:31-34).

The "firstfruits" of God is a "harvest still growing." Their works are still being accomplished in the world under Christ's supervision. It's a "building in progress."

"...upon this Rock I will build My church..." [teach and train My called-out-ones; My ekklesia]. (Matt.16:18)

It's not finished yet. And the wages thereof have yet to be paid out.

The world is still waiting for the Father in heaven to inform His Firstborn Son, that the last of the firstfruits is ready... and that it's time to return to earth, to reap the Great Fall Harvest.

"...Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for THE [fall] HARVEST OF THE EARTH IS RIPE." (Rev.14:15)

Many consider the story of the original sin to be little more than a parable. You get to read into it whatever you think would be a good lesson in morality (or cynicism, depending on your perspective).

The First Sin and ResponsibilityNote: to avoid this space turning into a confrontation, the following assumes that the story of Adam and Eve, the tree, and the first sin are essentially accurate from a historical point of view. Please use a different question if you wish to debate the veracity of the story. Please expect this answer to "be edited mercilessly" otherwise.

The question of responsibility and culpability regarding the first sin of Adam and Eve disobeying God has been debated by scholars, philosophers, and just about anybody else with an opinion for centuries. On one hand, Adam was given explicit instructions not to eat fruit from that tree. On the other hand, had God not planted the tree in there in the first place, there wouldn't have been a problem.

The tree was no ordinary tree. Genesis 2:9 mentions that the Garden of Eden had many trees that had nice-looking and nice-tasting fruit. Two particular trees, though, were singled out in the garden. "In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." The latter tree was the forbidden one. Some have tried to explain this as a metaphor for a variety of different thoughts, desired, or deeds; for the purposes of this question, I don't think the distinction is important. The implication, though, is that eating of that tree would give one the knowledge of good and evil, further implying that Adam and Eve didn't know about evil. After Adam had eaten of the fruit of that tree, brought to him by Eve, both became aware of their nakedness; again, the numerous theories behind what may have happened physically aren't essential to the answer. Adam had been given responsibility to avoid doing one thing, and he shirked that responsibility.

So why did God put it there in the first place? The Bible doesn't say. In fact, that particular tree isn't mentioned again. The other special tree, the tree of life, is mentioned again, though; it's the centerpiece of the New Jerusalem mentioned in the latter part of the book of Revelation, after the devil and Hell have been cast into the lake of fire. First, though, after the sin happens, God realizes that, if Adam and Eve ate of that tree which had not been forbidden then they would live forever. It appears as though that was part of God's plan. Thus, we must ask if God had planned to allow, one day, Adam and Eve and/or their descendents to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but after they were prepared for it, perhaps after eating of the tree of life. Gods will as expressed to Adam and his wife was primarily positive, setting forth things they were to do. (Ge 1:26-29; 2:15) One prohibitive command was given to Adam, that forbidding eating of (or even touching) the tree of the knowledge of good and bad. (Ge 2:16,17; 3:2,3) This was a test of mans obedience and devotion to God, and it showed respect for mans dignity. By it God attributed nothing bad to Adam; he did not use as a test the prohibition of, for example, bestiality, murder, or some similar vile or base act, thereby implying that God felt Adam might have some despicable inclinations residing within him. Eating was normal, proper, and Adam had been told to eat to satisfaction of what God had given him. (Ge 2:16) But God now tested Adam by restricting his eating of the fruit of this one tree. The eating of that fruit would symbolize that the eater comes to a knowledge that enables him to decide for himself what is good or what is bad for man. In other words, would Adam submit to God's rulership, or decide for himself what was good and bad? Thus, God neither imposed a hardship on the man nor did He attribute to Adam anything beneath his dignity as a human son of God. As we know, Adam chose to use his gift of free will to disobey God and saying, by his actions, that he would choose for himself what was right and wrong.

God certainly had the right to place this test apon his creation. The test was neither severe or difficult. In fact, it was only after a rebellious spirit creature, that later became known as Satan the Devil, did Eve, and then later Adam, begin desiring the fruit. As a perfect man and woman, their disobedience was deliberate. They chose for themselves, to remove themselves from God's rulership, and the blessings of that arrangement.

The fault lies, not with God, but with our first human parents. Since Adam & Eve were the first humans, they don't have parents, teachers, social & cultural groups, religious leaders, political leaders to learn from. In short, their minds were blanks. For them God and Devil are mere strangers. There were nobody to warn them not to talk to either strangers. They have no concept of good or evil.

For God to put the tree of Knowledge and the tree of Life in the garden, then commanded them not to touch it is like putting a matchbox in the middle of the room, then command an innocent child not to play with it. Or; A prudent parent will not spread rat-poison in the room and command the child not to eat it. No, Adam & Eve were not to blame for the fall of man.

Additional Comments:

*Augustine and Pelagius

In the 5th Century, Pelagius denied the Augustianian answer to the paradox of original sin. Augustine's answer was the Limited Sovereignty argument, which stated that Adam and Eve had the power to change nature by bringing sin into the world, but that the advent of sin then limited mankind's power thereafter (to evade the consequences). The problem of evil then asks: "Is God's creation still good?" Pelagius argued that death is a natural part of the universe. Both he and John Chrysostom believed that Christians, through their baptism, are free to make moral choices; that, although their wills cannot affect the course of nature, it can - and must - affect their moral decisions. This view, however, does not exclude the possibility that death came about as a result of human action. Pelagius' main argument was that God is just, and it would be unjust to punish many people for the sin of two people. Adam and Eve sinned, but universal mortality cannot be the result of their sin alone. Mortality must be the result of some other cause, which Pelagius held was simply the structure of nature. Pelagius' position is regarded by most Christian denominations as a heresy.[4] Augustine's position on the issue is discussed further in the section on Criticisms and responses below.

Another Opinion:

Regardless of whether or not one believes the story to be literal, the lesson is the same. Adam and Eve were given a clear command and they disobeyed even though they knew the consequences. Even though they were newly created, they were not babies. They were intelligent but innocent. The first humans clearly made a free-will choice to disobey God. He did not force them to do so. They are quite clearly to blame.

Additional Comments:

Hey people, im in year 9 in Australia but i think i got a good answer. I mainly agree with the first idea but we need to look at this from a more direct view. The tree of knowledge is a tree of KNOWLEDGE.. so these people are almost brainless like animals but they took a bite out of the tree of knowledge which made them able to have "free will" and an "intellect" like angels, devils and Gods. Everyone everything has free will and intellect. humans develop this around age 7-8 and this is the age you go to reconciliation because u now no when you are wrong.

Back to the question God didnt want us to have a free will and intellect because he knew , like the devil, people will exploit it so he gave us a choice because he is soo good and loves us. Humans are the resaon for original sin and more directly woman, howver, men are to blame because they got tempted too. Hope this helps.

Another Thought:

Christ was foreordained before the foundation of the world - That is, it was foreordained, or predetermined, that he should be the great stoning Sacrifice for sin. On the meaning of the word "foreordained," see Romans 8:29. The word is rendered which knew, Acts 26:5; foreknew and foreknow, Romans 8:29; Romans 11:2; foreordained, 1 Peter 1:20; and know before, 2 Peter 2:17. It does not elsewhere occur in the New Testament. The sense is, that God's plan was formed, and the arrangements made for the atonement, before the world was created.

Before the foundation of the world - That is, from eternity. It was before man was formed; before the earth was made; before any of the material universe was brought into being; before the angels were created. Compare the Matthew 25:34 note; John 17:24 note; Ephesians 1:4 note.

Everyone seems to ignore or dance around this issue. If Christ was chosen to be the sacrifice for original sin "before" Adam & Eve were even created, how can the blame be placed upon them?

"Our trinitatian friends pose a fair question. "If God is only one then how do you explain Jesus being on the right hand of the Father"?

This term the “right hand” goes back to ancient Bible times. It was and still is a figure of speech. Today the term is used as such, “John is my right hand man”. That statement today simply means that John is his good friend and someone that can be counted on. The point is that the term “right hand” is a figurative term. Another figure of speech is that “it is raining cats and dogs”. We know that cats and dogs are not coming down from the sky!

The Bible is full of such figurative terms, parables and typology that in some cases we must know a little of the Eastern customs to understand what is being implied and taught in the Bible passage.

The trinitarians look at this term and teach that it proves that two sit on the throne of God.

If God is omnipresent how then can you sit down on His right side? If God is a Spirit how then can one sit down on the right side of Him? If it possible to sit on the right side of God as a position then we must say that God is not everywhere but that He is limited to space, that He is confined to a certain amount of height and depth. Is God limited to a certain amount of height and depth? I say not!

Because God is an omnipresent Spirit He does not “sit” as we do on a physical throne. The Heaven is His throne. In other words in the universe He sits and reigns, there is no place where He isn’t.

Jesus Christ sat down with all power as Almighty God on the throne by Himself.

The term “sat down” leads us to more understanding of these passages. In understanding the sacrificing of the priests they were not allowed at any time to sit in the Holy place where the sacrificing was done. There was no place to sit. The reason for this is that their sacrificing was never finished. The sins of the people were only pushed ahead another year. When Jesus became our final sacrifice, He at the same time being the high priest, forever sat down as God ending all sacrifices!

So we see the subject is not about how many are sitting on the throne of God but about Jesus sitting down as the almighty God after the final sacrifice!

The term “the almighty” is used 44 times in the Bible. The last verse referring to the almighty is Jesus claiming to be the almighty. How many almighties do we have? Only one and He Jesus, sits on the throne alone!

The term “ the finger of God” can be taken literally but again God wants us to understand His great power and authority. Do you think Jesus reached into people’s lives and literally pluck out demons with His finger? A more clear understanding is that God doesn’t even need a whole hand to cast out demons. In a figurative way of speaking God only needs a finger to cast out the devil! The devil is no match for God!"
