Leopards have relatively flexible dietary needs, and generally feed on a greater diversity of prey compared to other members of the Panthera species. Although mid-sized animals are preferred, the leopard will eat anything from dung beetles to 900 kg (1,984 lb) male giant elands. Their diet consists mostly of ungulates and monkeys, but rodents, reptiles, amphibians, insects, birds and fish are also eaten. One survey of nearly 30 research papers conducted by Hayward et al. (2006) found preferred prey weights of 10 to 40 kg (22-88 lb), with 25 kg (55 lb) most preferred. Along with impala and chital, a preference for bushbuck and common duiker was found. Other prey selection factors include a preference for prey in small herds, in dense habitat, and those that afford the predator a low risk of injury.

Leopards are carnivores and hunt a variety of different animals. The main diet of leopards are ungulates and monkeys, although they have been known to eat over 100 species of different animals. Some of the more common foods eaten by leopards include rodents, reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish. Leopards have also been known to eat small insects such as dung beetles and large animals such as 800kg giant elands. Pythons are also occasionally eaten by leopards. Leopards may also hunt a single dog, although packs of dogs can chase away (and occasionally kill) a leopard. Leopards stalk their prey by coming up on them silently and jumping on their prey, strangling prey with a quick bite. Generally, leopards hunt at night time, although they have been known to hunt on overcast days. So now you know what leopards eat and a little about their hunting practices. Now let's look at those six interesting facts about leopards.

The leopard feeds mainly with boars and deer, and sometimes with birds and rodents. He hunts alone, at night, and always in ambush. He can make really high and long jumps, also can climb and swim. All that combined with his accuracy and speed and tactics of attack, almost always guarantees him food.
The leopard hides his food from hyenas and other animals by leaving it on trees. Usually he never attacks humans, but sometimes there are human casualties. Sometimes they even get to populated places and attack cattle.
Leopards, colloquially known as black panthers, are the smallest of the four so called big cats. Leopards are either all black or mostly dark in color and are located in Asia, Africa and parts of Europe. But what do leopards eat. This article will answer the question what do leopards eat .
First, let's look at the question what do leopards eat. Leopards are carnivores and hunt a variety of different animals. Some of the more common foods eaten by leopards include rodents, reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish. Its name combines "mer" meaning the sea commemorating Singapore's ancient name Tumasek (meaning 'sea town' in Javanese, one of the Austronesian language, in Indonesia). The lion head commemorates Singapore's original name, meaning "lion city" or "Singapura".
On the other hand, there is a breed of cats, the Singapura which has also been recognized as a Singapore Tourist Promotion Board mascot. Also known as the Kucinta, the Singapura is one of the world's smallest breeds of cats. Southern Africa is very fortunate to have the largest variety of animals in the world. It is home to more than 800 bird species, 150 mammal species, about 50 snake and lizard species, 11 tortoise species and thousands of invertebrate animals like insects and arachnids.
South Africa is in the fortunate position that it is home to the largest landbased mammal (the elephant), the tallest (the giraffe), the fastest (the cheetah), the smallest ("dwergskeerbek"-mouse), the largest non-flying bird (the ostrich) and the largest flying bird (the kori bustard).
Mammals
The larger mammals can be divided into three groups: herbivore, carnivore and omnivores.
Elephants, hippopotamus, rhinosorous, buffaloes and elands are the largest herbivores found in the country. The herbivore group with the largest number is the impala - the small red buck that is found almost everywhere.
The cat family, dog, hyena, otter and mongoose families all form part of the carnivore group. Almost all carnivores are hunters except for hyenas that are scavengers.
Apes, baboons and the pig family are omnivores with the exception of the warthog. Surprisingly the ugly warthog lives from grass and leaves.
Reptiles
Reptiles are cold blooded, scaly animals. More than 400 reptiles are found in Southern Africa. About 130 snake species occur in Southern Africa but only a tenth is poisonous.
The smallest land tortoise (speckled "padloper") that is only up to 8,5 cm long and the largest land tortoise (mountain tortoise) that weighs up to 40 kg, are both found in Southern Africa.
The well-known "leeurugseatortoise" (the largest tortoise in the world) which weighs up to 600 kg, is found in the coastal areas of Northern-Zululand. It grows up to 2 metres tall and the female lays her eggs on the beaches. They lay up to 1000 eggs in a breading season.
Birds
The South African coast is home to a variety of seabirds. Many are indigenous to this part of the world whilst others migrate mainly from Europe to stay here during summer. There are 16 different penguin species living in the southern hemisphere but the Jackass penguin is the only one that lives in the coastal areas of South Africa. They lay their eggs in holes in the ground or under a layer of rock to protect it from the sun.
The largest bird on earth, the ostrich, is found in large numbers in South Africa. It is mainly farmed for its feathers, skin, eggs and cholesterol-free meat. The ostrich is unique, although it can't fly, it runs up to 50km per hour over short distances.
Marine life
Although a fairly large variety of marine life is found around the South African coast, only a limited number of species of fresh water fish (100) occur in South African rivers. This is mainly due to the fact that South Africa is a dry country.
The South African coast is very rich of edible fish types. Some of these are unique to South Africa like snoek, kabbeljou and kingklip.
The Southern Right Whale is the largest mammal in the Southern Hemisphere and breeds around the southern coast of South Africa.
Insects and arachnids
Insects are the most abundant animal species on earth. The are more than a million insect species on earth and more than 100 000 can be found in South Africa. Many insects are useful but they can also be pests.
The praying mantis is one of the interesting insects found in South Africa. For centuries it was a symbol of holiness for the San people - the first people that lived in South Africa.
The Baboon spider is a ground dwelling hairy spider and considered one of the largest spiders in the world. It ranges in size from 2 to 6 cm in body length, but is not poisonous.
Amphibians
Frogs, toads, water salamanders and salamanders form the group of amphibians.
The only type of amphibians that occur in South Africa is frogs and toads.
The smallest frog is the micro-frog, which is only 1,8 mm long and is on the list of endangered species.
Surprisingly the ghost frog is only found on Table Mountain. It lives in the fast flowing streams on the mountain, is very scarce and endangered. The name ghost frog stems from the fact that it is only seen at night.

English, Gammon, Irish Gaelic and Ulster Scots are the languages spoken in Ireland. Everyone knows English, Irish Travellers speak Gammon and many of the Irish use Gaelic either a little bit or a lot.
Mainly English but in certain parts called the Gaeltacht the original Irish language is encouraged and spoken to try and keep the language alive but 99 percent of the population speak English as their first language
English is the predominant language in Ireland. The native language Irish Gaelic is spoken by 2 or 3% of the population.
Gaelic is the official language of Ireland but the majority of the country speak English as their first language. Outside of that there are immigrants which speak their native tongue such as Polish and the languages taught in schools such as French and German.
English is the primary language, they also speak Irish (a Celtic language), and the languages of recent immigrants.
Ireland has both English and Gaelic was a spoken language.
Irish and English are Ireland's two official languages. English is the most commonly spoken. Some Irish people would have knowledge of other languages, but wouldn't necessarily use them very often, except when travelling.

They speck english but in some towns they speck gaeigle
English as our first, and Irish (Gaeilge) as our second. This is not counting the foreign population of recent times. The Irish Travellers speak a dialect among themselves called 'Shelta".
Irish (Gaelic) and English
Most people in Ireland speak English. However, some people in rural Gaeltacht areas in south-west, west and northwest also speak Irish or Gaelic - but not many. There are also some 2nd language speakers in the urban east coast cities Dublin and Belfast.
There is a growing number of primary gaelscoils - schools where Irish is spoken, and young kids learn it.
But there are probably as many Polish and Chinese speakers, with Russian, Arabic and Hausa up there as well.
Engrish
English is the main language and some people speak Irish. They are the two official languages of Ireland. Outside of those there is no real third language spoke by Irish people. Many Irish people can speak other languages, typically some of the other European languages. There are also people from other countries in Ireland who speak their own languages.
English is predominant, but a minority is blingual in Irish and English.

Irish, or sometimes known as Gaelic.
A term generally used by most is Irish Gaelic. Gaelic is sometime used to refer to the native language of Ireland, but there are three languages in the same family: the native languages of Ireland, of Scotland, and of the Isle of Man. These are the Goidelic languages. See link for more.
English is the most widely spoken language. Irish is also spoken and is the official language.
Constitutionally, the first, official national language is Gaeilge, which originated in Ireland prior to written history and is still taught in Irish schools. Practically, Ireland is a bilingual country with both Gaeilge and English spoken. However, speakers of Gaeilge as a first language, are now in the minority. The term, Irish Gaelic, or simply Gaelic, is still used by some, mostly foreigners, reminiscent of past foreign domination.

Irish is the main language to have originated from within the island, while others have been introduced through foreign settlements. Since the late nineteenth century, English has been the predominant first language. A large minority claims some ability to use Irish, even though it is the first language only for a small percentage of the population. Within the Republic of Ireland, under Bunreacht na hÉireann, the Irish constitution, both languages have official status, with Irish being the national and first official language. It is only spoken fluently by a minority, predominately along the west coast of Ireland. Irish does feature a lot in everyday things in Ireland such as placenames, names for organisations and public bodies, and some official titles. The head of government in Ireland is know as the Taoiseach (Tee-shock). Other members and institutions of government also have Irish language names. There is a national radio station that broadcasts in Irish and also a national television station. The Irish national anthem is always sung in Irish. It is a community language in parts of 3 counties today and is a school subject in the Republic. There is government support for the language but its number of speakers is dwindling. There are however Gaelscoileanna (all Irish-language schools) that had had some success. The Irish Traveller communities use a language called Cant/Gammon/Shelta among themselves. Ireland has received many immigrants in recent years and as result you may hear Polish or Mandarin more often than Irish/Gaelic in some places.
