To a French speaker, absolutely nothing. A machine translation gone bad?
"Je dis" = "I say", "I tell"
"à" = "to"
"vis" = "screw" (the little iron thing to screw wood or else)
"des Carolines" = "of the Carolines" (the states? Caroline is also a first name)
"et de dire" = "and to say"
"passons au sud-ouest" = "(let's or we) move to the South West"
More context would help.

Equity advised her to choose another surname as her credited name as Caroline Caplan was already taken. She chose Catz because she is Jewish and wanted a name that would identify her as so.
She also does identify as Jewish, as is the case with the overwhelming majority of Jews born to two Jewish parents.

The 1920s in Japan are referred to as the Taisho Democracy period. The legislature had gained significant powers from the Imperial council, the Genro, by using their authority over the governmental budget. The number of political parties had increased.
The right to vote was expanded beyond landholders to all adult males age 20 and over, but communism was largely outlawed by the Peace Preservation Law that followed (espousing communism remained illegal until the US demanded the rescinding of the law during the post WWII occupation).
It was also a period where different western philosophies and literature styles entered the country, as well as some attitudes regarding society.

Trusteeship Council, one of the principal organs of the United Nations (UN), designed to supervise the government of trust territories and to lead them to self-government or independence. The council originally consisted of states administering trust territories, permanent members of the Security Council that did not administer trust territories, and other members elected by the General Assembly. With the independence of Palau in 1994, the council suspended operations.
Originally, the council met once each year. Each member had one vote, and decisions were taken by a simple majority of those present. Since 1994 the council is no longer required to meet annually, though it may meet on the decision of the Trusteeship Council's president or on a request by a majority of its members, by the General Assembly, or by the Security Council.
The international supervision of colonial territories was introduced in 1919 by U.S. Pres. Woodrow Wilson at the Paris Peace Conference, which created the mandate system of the League of Nations. The trusteeship system, like the mandate system, was established on the premise that colonial territories taken from countries defeated in war should not be annexed by the victorious powers but should be administered by a trust country under international supervision until their future status was determined. Unlike the mandate system, the trusteeship system invited petitions from trust territories on their independence and required periodic international missions to the territories.
In 1945 only 12 League of Nations mandates remained: Nauru, New Guinea, Ruanda-Urundi, Togoland and Cameroon (French administered), Togoland and Cameroon (British administered), the Pacific Islands (Carolines, Marshalls, and Marianas), Western Samoa, South West Africa, Tanganyika, and Palestine. All these mandates became trust territories except South West Africa (now Namibia), which South Africa refused to enter into the trusteeship system. With the cessation of its main activities in 1994, new roles for the council have been proposed, including administering the global commons (e.g., the seabed and outer space) and serving as a forum for minority and indigenous peoples.

CHAPTER 23
WORLD WAR II: THE WAR AGAINST JAPAN
byROBERT W. COAKLEYReprinted fromAMERICAN MILITARY HISTORYARMY HISTORICAL SERIESOFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF MILITARY HISTORYUNITED STATES ARMY
CHAPTER 23World War II: The War Against Japan
In World War II, for the first time, the United States had to fight a war on two fronts. Though the central strategic principle governing allocation of resources to the two fronts provided for concentrating first on the defeat of the European Axis, on the American side this principle was liberally interpreted, permitting conduct of an offensive war against Japan as well as against Germany in the years 1943-45. The U.S. Fleet, expanding after its initial setback at Pearl Harbor much as the Army had, provided the main sinews for an offensive strategy in the Pacific, although the Army devoted at least one-third of its resources to the Pacific war, even at the height of war in Europe. In sum, the United States proved capable, once its resources were fully mobilized, of successfully waging offensives on two fronts simultaneouslya development the Japanese had not anticipated when they launched their attack on Pearl Harbor.
Japan's Strategy
Japan entered World War II with limited aims and with the intention of fighting a limited war. Its principal objectives were to secure the resources of Southeast Asia and much of China and to establish a "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" under Japanese hegemony. In 1895 and in 1905 Japan had gained important objectives without completely defeating China or Russia and in 1941 Japan sought to achieve its hegemony over East Asia in similar fashion. The operational strategy the Japanese adopted to start war, however, doomed their hopes of limiting the conflict. Japan believed it necessary to destroy or neutralize American striking power in the Pacificthe U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor and the U.S. Far East Air Force in the Philippinesbefore moving southward and eastward to occupy Malaya, the Netherlands Indies, the Philippines, Wake Island, Guam, the Gilbert Islands, Thailand, and Burma. Once in control of these areas, the Japanese intended to establish a defensive perimeter stretching from the Kurile Islands south through Wake, the Marianas, the Carolines, and the Marshalls and Gilberts to Rabaul on New Britain. Vikky died and Matt got very upset because that was his only sibling and he couldn't lean on his mom because she was a druggy and never came home to see her children. Matt also has another friend named Tyler Lookwood, Tyler has a family curse that runs through his blood. The lookwood family is one of the founding families of Mystic Falls. Tyler's father dies in a church were many vampire were placed in 1864 to burn and die. The curse that rus through Tylers bood is that if someone dies in his hand he will become a werewolf. The Warewolf is very uncommon now days. Warewolfs can bite Vampires and if that happenes it will be fatal. Tylers uncle comes to check on him and while he is visting Tyler he dissapers and dies. Damon and Stefan kill him to get answers on werewolfs and a mystery curse that will get the vampires out of vampirism. The curse was called the moonstone curse to break that curse you must first find the moonstone and if you find it a ceromony will be placed in a sacrifice will be held by the doppleganger which is Elena. Elena is the key to breaking the vampire curse for the curse to be complete you also need a witch (Bonnie) and a vampire I believe( Isobell,Stefan,Kathrine,Caroline or Matt) Matt gets turned in to a vampire by Caroline right before he is about to die because a witch stabbes him in the neck with a peice of broken glass. I know this is alot to take in but this is bacislly what happened over the 2 sesons. Hope this helps P.S ( I am a Vampire Diaries FREAK)
