Hydrangea have air roots that will attach themselves to walls, but if you need to reattach them after painting the wall or some other maintenance use small blobs of clear calk or silicone with a piece of wire pushed through it while wet. Wait for the silicone to harden and wrap the wire around the vine to hold it against the wall until it reattaches itself.

Chalk is made of calcium carbonate, a soft mineral that leaves a visible mark when drawn on a rough surface like a blackboard. When drawn on the blackboard, chalk particles rub off and stick to the surface due to friction, creating a visible line.

Putting chalk in your hair can dry it out, cause tangles, and be difficult to wash out completely. It may also cause irritation to your scalp or skin. It's generally recommended to use hair-specific chalk or color products to avoid potential damage.

First of all you will need Butylthane and window calking that is not water based. You need to put Butyl on the bottom of the opening where the window will go and then calk the window on the lip that will be against the structure. Then, put the window in the opening and center the bottom and put one or two screws on the bottom. then have someone hold the window while you put the slider of the window in and then just pry the frame to make the opening of the slider and the frame look even on top and bottom and then put a screw in the top middle. You will need to close the window so that you can only see an eighth of an inch and then move the middle to make it look good and there you go, you have installed a window.

The control unit for the transfer case is located in the kick panel. There's a technical service bulletin out advising that there's corrosion in the connector for the controller. Remove the kick panel, unplug the connector and use contact cleaner to clean the contacts. Use a small file if the corrosion is really bad. Then, purchase a small tube of silicon dielectric grease and coat the terminals before reinserting into the control box. The grease will seal out moisture. Do NOT use silicon RTV or any silicon calk to do this.

If the wetness is just below the window, it's probably condensation.
Is the glass fogged up most of the time?
The easiest fix for this is to run a dehumidifier in the vicinity of the window
The other two options are adding storm windows or replacing the glass with thermal panes.

It could be that the connection between the window and the house is leaky.
This would cause the walls on the sides of the window to be colder then the air in the house and condensation will form on the walls.
Do the walls feel cold next to the window?
This is the easy one, just calk around the window.

The last option is that the roof over the bay window is leaking.
I'm assuming it has a little apron roof over it that sticks out of the exterior wall.
but weather it does or not, it's probably the flashing at the upper joint between the house and the window.
You can't calk that joint. It needs to be open so that any moisture that gets under the siding can get out.
You can look at it yourself, check for cracks or openings above the window and especially at the corners.
It may be that the wind is blowing water up this joint and over the flashing.
Or if snow and ice are building up on top of the window, the melt may be working it's way in.
The joint itself should be tight and you should see a little strip of metal flashing (copper lead or aluminum) sticking out.
You might want to get a pro to look at this.

If you're talking about a crack, you can use an epoxy filler. ...or if it's not too wide, silicone calk will work fine. If You're talking about a flaw (like an air pocket) from when the slab was poured, you can use mortar or furnace cement, something that's sticky and has good adhesion. You can check with the folks at your local hardware or home improvement store. They'll recommend something.

The first thing you need to do is be sure the jambs on the window end flush with the wall.
If it's only off by a little bit, go ahead and install the trim, you can use calk to fill a small gap.
If it's off by a lot you're going to have to add 'padding'.
Take a straight edge and place it against the wall, if the edges of the window don't come out as far as the wall, you'll need extension jambs.
An extension jamb is just a strip of wood you add to the frame. They should be available from who ever made the window.
If the window comes out farther then the wall, you'll need to add a strip of wood of an equal thickness to the back of the molding.
You'll never get the trim to join up properly otherwise.

Caulking is a term used to describe several different process to seal joints or seams in various structures and certain types of piping. The oldest form of caulking is used to make the seams in wooden boats or ships watertight, by driving fiberous materials into the wedge-shaped seams between planks. A related process was formerly employed to join sections of cast iron sewerage pipe. Caulk (calk) can refer either to the caulking substance or to the process of applying it. Caulking as a term has spread to the building trade, meaning the activity of closing up joints and gaps in buildings. The function of caulking is to provide thermal insulation, control water penetration and noise mitigation. This is mostly done with ready-mixed construction chemicals sold as caulk such as silicone, polyurethane, polysulfide, sylil-terminated-polyether or polyurethane and acrylic sealant.

The most important issue is making sure the vinyl siding has been installed properly. If all the nails have been put into the center of their slots and not nailed down too hard it should be fine to put a screw into one place in the vinyl. I prefer to use the prefabricated straps and sink panhead wood screws so they are about one turn past just touching (or 1/8") the vinyl. Usually you need to have 1.5" screws. Then sink one panhead metal screw through the strapping into the gutter. make sure to calk over / behind all the screws, especially on the vinyl. Do this 18" form the top and the bottom of the downspout, and if the downspout is greater than 10' in length extra strap(s) so no distance between straps is greater than 10'.

Same thing happened to me with my 03 Range Rover HSE. Durring rain, water was running off the back roof into the back window hatch door and seeping down the driver side back quarter panel. The water leaking was never visible, but I found out b/c my amp started making poping sounds during a heavy rain. My mechanic found the source of the problem and my amp got fried. I made an insurance claim and it got approved to replace the amp and the headliner. The problem is the black rubber seal that is supppossed to seal the back window hatch - it acts like a weather proof strip on a door. It cost around $300 to replace - but you might try adding some calk around it to keep the water out. You can always test it with a water hose, but you might not see the water unless you remove the quarter panel.

I have since heard that Land Rover's are notorius for water leaks.

Good Luck!

when starting from a wall you first need to make sure the wall is square to perfect. use the 3-4-5 method to find the perfect square-- this will tell you if the wall is perfectly squared or not.

In this case I will be starting with my right shoulder-- Stretch your tape measure and point the metal tip into the eight side corner of the room. now measure out to the left 3 feet and make a mark at the 3 ft. point with a magic marker or pencil.

now measure from the corner along the wall down to a 4 foot mark and mark a 4 ft. point

now measure diagonally from the 3 foot point to the 4 foot point and you should have a 5 feet reading-- if you have a 5 ft reading then you found the perfect square starting point and now cut a tile in a diagonal / half and set it in the corner of your calk line square. The rest is way too indepth so my advice is to "GOOGLE" How to lay ceramic tile to find your favorite how to video.

Good luck.

1 answer

Good luck. You would have to scrape each tile and remove the grout. Depending on the type of tile, sometimes if you scrape with a metalic scraper you can/will leave grey marks on the tile from the scraper. If the coating product that you are trying to remove was intended for this application then it isn't comming off without a mechanical device. If, IF you were successful you would then have to re-grout the tile, re-calk the tile/tub and you may realise why they covered the tub and tile in the first place. ie: chips cracks, mould? or just ugly tile. To replace a tile tub surround I used to charge about 1000$ including labor and materials. This would also include any drywall repairs that the tile may have been hiding. Most of the time it was easier to remove the tile with the sheet of drywall and re-board the tub area. The tub can be replaced by an honest plumber for well under a 1000$ including time and materials. All of this pricing is realitive to the materials being used. There are some pretty expensive tile and tubs.

i did it w/o help, until it was ready to move onto the bow. Put 2x4's in position like rails from the cabin roof to the bow. Slide the bridge off and onto the rails, to the bow. Tie off the bridge before you move it and pay out line to control it. Used thick carpet to cushion the bridge when on the bow.

Take pictures of the wires under the bridge, so you can put them back. Have wire in same colors on hand for replacement. Cut ties which hold harnessed wires, then pull harness apart. Cut other wires toward middle of length and use connectors crimped onto them for future assembly.

Remove power steering lines and cap off to stop hydrolic fluid leaks.

Remove screws which hold bridge in place on cabin deck. Be prepared to use calk into screw holes so fresh water rain doesn't get in.

Remove seats and stanchions and rails from bridge to reduce height below max limit.

You can use machinery like a lift, to assist you.

Talk to the workers at your marina for ideas. Try you tube video help.

1 answer

Try heating them first.
Go down to a re-sale shop and find an old iron you won't feel guilty wrecking.
Then find a really wide putty knife, the kind they use to tape joints in wallboard.
Set the iron at the lowest setting and heat up the tile, use the putty knife to peel it up.
Bring the temperature of the iron up a little at a time until you find just the right temperature to soften the glue with out cooking the tiles. You may have to peel off the vynal coating and apply the heat to the paper backing to get the glue to soften.
This is a long and ugly process but the only one I know of.

It's your heater core, and it's leaking. You need to fix it. It's located under the dash area by the passenger side. You have to replace the heater core, if you mechanical inclined, you can do it yourself. Get some tips from your parts guy at the auto parts store. Keo If the leak appears to be clean water after a rain, it may just be that the gasket at the bottom edge of the windshield (just above the vent intake plenum), has either fallen off or was taken off and not reinstalled properly - allowing rain-water to run down into the blower housing and drip out onto the carpeting. To rectify, simply remove the three screws securing the plastic cover where the passenger-side windshield-wiper rests, pull the cover off and re-secure the ~18" long rubber gasket to the metal frame-edge above the blower intake. I added a bead of silicon calk to help hold the gasket - because the rubber grippers in the gasket had lost their bite and wouldn't hold. A clean-water passenger side leak can also be caused from a clogged condensation drain on the AC. This has happened to my 98 Intrigue, and was fixed by the car dealer Answer I had this same problem. It turned out to be a plugged weep hole from the air conditioning condenser drain line is plugged. Turns out lots of gunk can get in there. The condenser is behind the glove compartment and drains water through the firewall close to the center of the car low down in the engine compartment. I believe you will be looking for a 90 degree rubber elbow. I had a mechanic suction it out with an air hose (he drained about 1/2 gallon of clean water out). He only charged me $10 since it took about 5 minutes and I knew the solution from reading a post on another forum. He suggested not using a hanger or anything with a sharp edge to clean out the weephole since it could damage the rubber around the area and make it worse later. I would probably try this on my own in the future since I expect it to plug again. It's a bit diffilcut to find unless you have the car up on a lift, but not impossible. Many of the civics, especially the older models, have the common rust around the rear wheel well. Many of these rusty civics are located in the north and driven through the winters. There are a couple reasons so many civics are rusting.

First is the condensation that forms on the inside of the car. Think of a glass of ice water sitting outside on a warm summer day. Condensation is going to form on the outside of the glass because it is so warm. I've even seen condensation form on the outside of house windows on a hot humid summer day when the air conditioner is on inside. Same concept with your car. When it is cold and snowy outside, you have the heat cranked up inside your car. This creates condensation, in addition you create more moisture when you are breathing and when you get in your car with snow on your shoes which melts and then evaporates. Cars have vents near the rear to help keep the air flow going through the vehicle, however that is not enough in the civic's case. Also the civic only has this vent on the drivers side below the tail light, not like many vehicles that have them on both sides and even in the door jambs sometimes. This creates condensation build up on the inside of your rear quarter panels. It drips down and collects around the inside of the wheel well. This is how the rust begins where the rear bumper meets the wheel well, the rust starts inside and eats its way through, until you see a tiny bubble or two form on the outside of your fender's paint. Condensation also drips down the front of the wheel well and sits in the inner rocker panel area. Fortunately, the inner rocker panel space has drain holes in the bottom but can still rust. This area is behind the plastic side skirts so you usually wouldn't know if there is rust.

Second cause of rust is the rubber strip Honda puts on the inner fender lip. People rip these off and throw them away because they retain water and road salt. These rubber strips also prevent rock chips which can lead to rust. So instead of taking them off and throwing them away, clean the whole area and inside of the strip & let everything dry, apply body sealer, silicone or similar calk to the inside of the strip and put it back on. Now you have protection from rock strips, and you're keeping the moisture out.

Pretty simple actually, first of all remove all the retaining screws there are approx 6-8 with a phillips screwdriver, trick no 1, door handle there is a plactic insert in the middle remove it and there is a screw behind it, remove the metal grill that covers the speaker in the door, you will find 3 screws hidden in the panel remove them, ok now, with all screws removed the door handle has a plastic lock on the insert itself remove it by prying carefully outward and then twist it, if it breaks (you can replace it thru a parts store) it retains the lock rod in place, very carefully pry up on the window switch and remove it then unplug it, follow the rest of the wires ie speaker, door courtesy light, auto locks, make sure you unplug all the wires the door panel will not come off, and out of the way, if you dont, next remove the 3 screws at the very bottom of the door panel after this pry out on the panel and lift up to remove it, there may or may not be a rubber shield covering the entire area, if so remove it, it has black pliable rubber from the factory that can be re-used, also remove it, isknown as adoor sound deadner, with all this out of the way you are ready to fix your window, roll the window down approx 1/2 way and you will see 2 clamps that hold the window into the track with 2 10mm nuts, determine which retainer is bad remove both nuts and push the track out of the way, very carefully lift the window out of the track and pull up and out to remove it completely from the door, ok, now with window out on the bench, you will have to (very carefully) unseat the retainer from the glass, do this by using a thin bladed knife or razor knife, take your time it is sealed with non pliable calk and it can be difficult, to remove, take a piece of wood with a hammer and drive the clip off the glass, taking extreme care not to strike the glass, then install the new retainer , make sure you crimp the bracket a little tight and then redrive it back into place very easy, then re install the window back in the door, line the window in its tracks and let it back down (gently) till it goes to where you removed it from, align the 2 studs up and install nuts , test window up and down before putting everthing back

It is an inside joke that he never answers this. But obviously he disassembles it, and then either discards it or reassembles it. He is never seen using fiberglass or glue on the finished assembly.

In the episode "Outlaws and In-Laws" during Season 7, one of Gibb's boats shows up with a dead body in it? At least the boat named for his daughter makes it out of the basement, somehow. But how? Maybe he does take it apart and rebuild it out of the basement. But is that really possible?

With most boat kits there is a lot of silicone caulking, glue, etc. that would prevent most people from disassembly but if you were building the boat to smash it to pieces, why would you bother to do all that? I wouldn't bother to buy even wood glue for something I was going to destroy. It would make it harder to burn later on. You would build the wood part and then trash it since it is never meant to be seaworthy. The idea is that if you cut, sand, bolt, and screw all the pieces together, that someone, somewhere, sometime might need to repair it. Unless it was pure fiberglass, you could remove that one piece of wood and replace it with another so you don't have to throw the whole boat away. For instance, My father was in the Construction Battalion in the Navy so he walked away from that with the ability to cut a straight line with a handsaw that amazed most people.

The boat that Gibbs is building is an Amigo Kit from Glen-L which is a real simple design, not a yacht but sleeps 4, with a sail and engine. It comes in either FG or WD materials lists (fiber glass or wood). It isn't even the size of a really good personal fishing boat size at an overall length of only 25 feet including the bowsprit (the forward tip of the boat has a bowsprit that the sail attaches to in the front). If you didn't calk, glue, or fiberglass the whole thing until you got it outside, then, YES, you would be able to disassemble sections of it to take outside and reassemble to do that work (caulking, gluing, or fiberglassing over) on it with more room and ventilation (if you have to clear out of your house to paint the interior, imagine the fumes from all that glue and caulking, not to mention if you did it with plankwood, it would have to be waterproofed and finished, then painted on the outside. Breathing that while working in the basement would make Gibbs so high that his bourbon wouldn't be necessary. When Gibbs meets Mike Franks in Mexico, Mike has a boat that is NOWHERE NEAR the same size, it is smaller by far. But it is big enough to take themselves and tourists sailing near the beach and catch fish. Not something you could go to the Bahamas in, but then he is already in the Baja.

Big Hint: The idea of building a boat by hand with handtools (like a brace and bit and a regular hand saw) causes more planing and sanding later on down the line, but ... the MAIN IDEA is mostly to build character in the man rather than building a boat to take sailing. The sailing part is just kind of the bonus. Some boat builders I read about online have taken 5 years to create the same boat. Most private boat builders start out to have a boat they can obtain cheaply, but a lot of them sell them instead of ever sailing them. The pleasure in the accomplishment is amazing.
