I used to think science is more important than arts - because it's more likely for a person to make a better living for studying science than arts. As I grow older, I come to appreciate arts and understand its value. I now believe art is as important as science in moving forward the positive development of humanity. Creativity can't be taught like math or science to students. Students must learn to be creative from their own experience - e.g., try different ideas and not afraid to be wrong.

Superficially, Arts and Crafts is floral patterned wallpaper, Art Nouveau is posters of wimmen with flowers in their hair.

Arts and Crafts developed in England in the 1860s. Art Nouveau arose in the Belle Epoque of the 1890s in Paris, Munich (Jugendstil), and Wiener (Sezession). Art Nouveau is a rejection of the European Academic Style. They are both decorative, influenced by medieval, pre-Raphaelite, art and have a ton of vines going on, but one is primarily a decorative arts movement about *how* things are made (A&C), and the other is an art movement about *what* is made (AN). They can both be understood as reactions to the Industrial Revolution.

Arts and humanities is an umbrella term for subjects like English literature, linguistics, theater arts, and philosophy. After you declare one of these disciplines as your major, you will begin your academic pursuit for a Bachelor of Arts degree. If you are interested in multiple subjects, you can declare two or even three majors, provided that you are able to complete all required courses by the time you graduate.

The structure of a humanities program offers students both width and depth in understanding that specific area. Most English literature students, for example, are required to take basic seminars in writing and critical reading before they can begin taking other classes of their own choosing. Although mots universities offer a wide range of English classes, they are requirements that a literature student needs to fulfill: all majors must take a certain number of upper-level classes and must have taken courses that cover three major historical periods before they graduate. This kind of requirements apply not only to English majors but to most arts and humanities students.

Programs in arts and humanities usually equip students with exceptional reading and writing skills as most assignments require students to in written language critique, challenge, or analyze arguments presented by others. Thus, arts and humanities students can begin to develop eloquence and an impressive writing style which will be useful in any contexts, including job hunt.

Some may wonder whether an arts and humanities major can have as much firsthand experience in research as a science major, and the answer to this question is a definite yes. Many universities offer opportunities for undergraduates to conduct research with a faculty mentor. Some of the projects may include compiling research materials for a theater arts professor, or summarize journal articles for a philosophy graduate student. These opportunities will help you decide whether you are interested in a career in the academia. And if you are, these experiences will be of great help when you apply to graduate schools.

It really depends on the art or craft. Some projects can be taught & others just require a natural God given ability. Some projects require a lot of patience & a steady hand, a good aesthetic eye, depth perception. It all depends. http://aftonrayrossol.com

Some crafts that you can do in the US are scrapbooking, origami, etc... There are so many ways that you can find out more about this. There are books and magazines, internet resources, the library. There are so many ways it is never hard to find a craft to do! When you are looking for a craft for someone you have to know what age they are. A 3 year old might have a hard time doing a clay sculpture that a 23 year old has a hard time doing. You have to do a craft that would fit whoever is doing it. I hope this helps and enjoy crafting! ~Marigold

The arts are a vast subdivision of culture, composed of many creative endeavors and disciplines. It is a broader term than "art," which as a description of a field usually means only the visual arts. The arts encompasses visual arts, literary arts and the performing arts, among others. This list is by no means comprehensive.
