Sleep apnea, sleep apnoea or sleep apnœa is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. These episodes, called apneas (literally, "without breath"), each last long enough so one or more breaths are missed, and occur repeatedly throughout sleep.

It's a matter of priority, what is more important loss of blood or lack of Oxygen. If the trauma patient is conscious put a bandage in their hand and tell them to apply pressure and elevate the limb if there is no sign of a fracture. Then you can concentrate on the medical patient. Put the asthma patient into the semi-seated position get them to take their inhaler and don't forget to call for the EMS.

Look up " Sleep Apnoea" and see if it fits. You will probably need to see a doctor. When you wake up that way,sit up in bed, take ten very full but very slow breaths.Concentrate on relaxing, head to toes, saying the parts of the body to yourself as you relax them. Think about one of your favorite happy memories and examine it in your mind, as many details as you can about the memory. This should help w/ any sleeping problems. If not, conatct an MD.

== == * Have you ever been tested for sleep apnoea? Although you may feel you sleep well, this condition is a very common cause of people falling asleep during the day as it disturbs sleep patterns - although you may be unaware of it. Depression and low seratonin levels are another cause, as are many medications. * Make sure that you are sleeping in a room with normal temp. (about 77) Because if you sleep in a room that is warm your body is sleeping but your mind is working to keep your body cool so you don't overheat.

Adverse reactions ranging from tachycardia and cutaneous vasodilatation to severe hypotension and apnoea occurred in three children who were given codeine phosphate intravenously. The cause of these reactions is discussed and a review of the literature on the parenteral use of codeine phosphate is presented. The findings indicate that the standard reference formularies and pharmacopeoiae, with one exception, deal inadequately with the parenteral use of codeine phosphate. On the evidence of the cases presented we would support the conclusion of the American Medical Association's drug evaluations, that codeine phosphate should not be used intravenously in children or even adults.

Nose snoring is annoying for everyone else and has several causes. Try not napping during the day so you sleep better, sleep on your side with a pillow under your back so you cannot roll over. It is also possible to get snoring strips which open up your nasal cavities allowing air to pass through smoothly. Try to find the cause; it could be hayfever, a cold or sleep apnoea. Taking anti-inflammatory drugs could help reduce swelling in the nose and therefore reduce nose snoring. If you are still having trouble consult your doctor.

Dyspnea is translated from medical terminology to mean difficult breathing, where some disease, reaction, or other stimulant has caused breathing to be obstructed or otherwise uneasy. Apnea means lack of or stopped breathing. In this case, breathing is paused for a period of time, either normally between breaths, or abnormally due to some sort of pathology.

It is a type of face mask. A CPAP machine is used to provide air to people with sleep apnea -- it forces air into their lungs so they don't stop breathing. You have a choice of one that just fits into the nostrils, one that fits over the whole nose, or one that fits over both nose and mask -- the last one is the full face mask. You wear these while sleeping with a CPAP machine running.

No, that's an old belief that has absolutely no validity. Teeth grinding is caused by tension. Talk to a dentist to get a device that you can wear during sleep to stop the teeth grinding. Tgdan: I don't think it's fair to say that all teeth grinding is due to tension. It's true that the majority of teeth grinding seems to be due to stress but there are other factors too. For example if you have a pre-existing sleep disorder (notably obstructive sleep apnoea) then you are at increased risk of bruxism (teeth grinding). A high intake of alcohol and caffiene as well as smoking also increase your risk. It's also important to realise that whilse a nightguard will protect your teeth from premature wear as well as reduce the other symptoms of bruxism, it will not stop you from trying to grind your teeth. Nightguards are only a control rather than a cure. There is no known cure, although reducing your stress levels can certainly help in some cases.

No because the causes of the two are unrelated. Sleep apnoea is a problem with your breathing. It happens at intervals very briefly while you lie in bed and is most usually due a physical not a mental over relaxation of the muscles of the soft palate in your throat because the muscles sag and obstruct the passage of air or else very occasionally a consequence of brief interruption of command reception from respiratory brain stem, but only ever while brain is partly resting during your sleep. It is never associated with neural communication while brain is fully awake.

The cause of Aphasia, (which means a complete absence of previously acquired ability to speak a language), is related by a long term neuron loss from the dominant cerebral hemisphere effective during periods both when you are awake and asleep. This is most usually due to brain damage such as after a stroke or head injury which is linked to the brain order that affects your ability to speak and write. Aphasia is sometimes linked to Alexia (word blindness) or Agraphia (writing difficulty), not to any kind of temporary nor permanent breathing disorder

The purpose of a CPAP mask is to better the sleep of those diagnosed with sleep apnea. A CPAP machine provides a steady stream of oxygen through the nose and the throat while he/she sleeps. There are many different kinds of machines for each particular person based on their needs. CPAP machines eliminate snoring issues, and have also proven to lower blood pressure the following day for people who use them.

No. If the heart ever stops, it means that blood (which carries oxygen) no longer circulates around the body. Without oxygen going to various parts of the body (including the brain which is still working during sleep), you would die.

this is possible due to the fact that heart and respiratory function is controled by the cerebelum. This dorsal part of the brain controls such functions we do not control voluntarily such as movent of your arms of legs.

There's nothing special about waking up early except for beating the morning rush traffic or having more time for things like a decent breakfast. The amount of sleep required to promote good health varies from individual to individual. Generally very young children require a lot of sleep as they burn lots of energy simply growing and developing. (That's one reason why we still have nap time in kindergarten). Teens frequently need supplemental naps for the same reason as they experience periods of rapid growth. By the time we reach our fifties our bodies seem to slow down and we require less and less total sleep to remain healthy, refreshed and alert. With that said, it is more important to our health to listen to our individual bio-rhythm, meaning that we usually feel better when we regulate our schedules so that we retire and arise at about the same time every day. In that way we train our bodies to expect that period of rest and recovery. Some people even find that when they regulate their sleep time they often awake ahead of their alarm going off. It is important to note that if you go to bed at about the same time each night, sleep for the recommended 7-8 hours and get up at about the same time each morning without feeling fully rested: it's time to investigate why. Reasons range from poor sleeping conditions (temperature, humidity, condition of mattress, etc.) to sleep apnoea. This condition affects far more people in some form than have been officially diagnosed, and can result in long term health issues including but not limited to cardiac irregularities, and chronic sleep deprivation - a condition suspected as a root cause in many traffic accidents and industrial accidents. So, it's not a matter of early waking being good for you - it's a matter of getting the good rest you need.
