The legend says that the Aluxes are small spirits that can take the form of a "small person" or child and ask the travelers or peasants for a gift or offering. If they refuse, the Aluxe can destroy their crops or send disease on their way; however if the offering is delivered, the Aluxe will protect them, looking after them during their travel or keeping an eye on their crops.
