The same as a purchased truck that has been wrecked. You will have been required to insure the vehicle. Contact the insurance company and file a claim. An adjustor will determine if the vehicle should be repaired or totaled.

A Geo Metro has up to three drive belts, which should be adjusted as follows: A/C 8-10 mm @ 10 kg (22 lbs) Water Pump and Alternator 5-7 mm @ 10 kg (22 lbs) Power Steering 8-10 mm @ 10 kg (22 lbs) All of these are for newly installed belts. To adjust, you loosen the bolt on the belt adjustor (it it a pulley mounted onto a metal plate which can be adjusted by sliding the adjustor bolt along a track) and move the adjustor out by pushing or prying it away until you can only push on the belt as per the specs. Usually you just push on the belt with your thumb (this is actually what the factory service manual pictures) to check its tension. when it is properly adjusted, tighten the bolt up to 23 N-m (17 foot pounds) so the adjustor won't slip. Used belts have a slightly wider range of adjustment. If you tighten it up and it becomes loose quickly, it's time for a new belt. Never let a old belt break on you and leave you stranded, they cost much less than a tow.

It depends. If you do not have collision coverage or do not claim any damages they may only inspect the 'injured' party.....however most top of the line companies will inspect both, even without coverage, to ascertain depth/severity of impact etc.

Many vinyl tonneau covers come equipped with a tension control adjustor to help resolve this very issue. The reason is simple - during the winter, the cold weather causes the vinyl to contract, while in the summer the opposite will happen. The heat will cause the vinyl to loosen a bit which will need to be tightened.

The Oxford Dictionary only lists adjuster. Merriam Webster lists both adjuster and adjustor. Microsoft Word spell check, which is probably the most influential source, accepts either.

The US Department of Labour uses adjuster.

It would be my conclusion that adjuster is by far the more common and accepted spelling.

Yes it does. It is best to file a police report and that will help legitimize the claim. People have been known to file false claims, so having that police report and any other proof that you actually owned the bike (or pictures and such) will help the claim adjustor move the claim quickly along.

After they give you a check for the value of the car (less your deductible), it is their car. If you want to keep it and repair it yourself, you can buy it back for the "residual value". You can negotiate this value with the adjustor. One caution: If you keep the car you may also have to pay some storage charges to the repair shop that is holding it, especially if you do not have them make the repairs.

Had to do one myself. Not that bad. Disconnect negative battery cable, and then start removing bolts off the alternator. The 2 hardest things are going to be the big adjustor nut on the left, it'll take off the tension on the belt. after that you have one big long bolt that's the whole length of the alternator. It'll come out halfway easy. To remove the alternator, wobble it out. Might stick a little bit, but will come out. I'm by no means a mechanic, but it's not as bad as some. When you put the new one in, just line up the holes and good to go. Just try to have a long breaker bar (i used a socket extension) and an extra pair of hands when you go to put the tension back on the belt. You'll need it. And be careful with the teeth on the adjustor nut. Good luck!!!! Love my jetta!!!!

This would be covered by the Comprehensive part of your policy. It usually requires the same deductible as collision coverage, but may be a different amount. Expect the insurance adjustor to be rather suspicious in the case of a fire. For instance, if you have been trying to sell the vehicle for several weeks then one night it goes up in flames, he is going to be wondering if you torched it yourself.

It's fairly simple, remove the radiator fan shroud to give yourself some room to work. Remove the fan belt by loosening the adjustor which could be the alternator or the pwr stearing pump or some other pulley. Remove the belt then remove th bolts around the water pump. Clean the engine area of the old gasket material and then apply new gasket sealer when installing the new pump.

yes if your ins.co. pays for your car. Even if they don't pay for your car. My agent warned me that my homeowners premiums could be raised just for filing claims! They used to send an adjustor out automatically if there was a hailstorm or windstorm, but not any more. I just wanted an ajustor to estimate the damage last spring and let me know if it would exceed my deductible.

Yes you can. one of my relatives did. But if the damamge was really bad, you probably should get it fixed. * Yes, unless a bank or finance company has a lien on the vehicle. The lienholder will insist that the damage be repaired or the money be used to reduce the loan. But if you own it free and clear, the insurance reimbursed you for the reduced value of the car. HOWEVER if you do not have this damage repaired, any future damage will not be fully covered.

I don't understand the question. You have no option to keep or give away coverages. This applies to uninsured motorist as well as any other coverage. Generally UM coverage is split limits and specify a limit per person and a limit per accident for bodily interest and another section that pays for physical damage for the vehicle. The claims adjustor will pay out the claims as they come in up to the limits on the policy.

To make the process easier, be sure to keep a current list of your home's contents with dates of purchase noted as well as photographs of larger and more expensive items in a safety deposit box off your property. If the car is doing this whilst cold, check to see of the Power Heat button is on. This is located down by the instrument panel light adjustment switch and headlight adjustment selector. The Power Heat lifts the revs up until the engine is warm. Works good for cold winters mornings. You will find if this is causing your high revs when idle, they will stop when the engine is warm. If you do not have the Power Heat option, it may be a sticky cable or the idle adjustor is set to high.

You will need special tools for this task, a wheel cylinder clamp and a brake spring removal tool along with your regular tool kit. Also a brake adjusting tool and large locking pliers would be helpful as well. If you're replacing brake shoes or linings, always replace in pairs, left and right, or all fours. Never replace just one, or on one side cause you'll end up making a very sharp turn towards the stronger brake side every time you hit the brakes and perhaps even flipping over during such a braking induced turn. Lift Jeep Turn Adjustor screw's wheel and retract brake shoes Remove wheels and brake drums Use wheel cylinder clamps to retain wheels cylinder pistons in place Remove return springs with removal tool. Take off, in the following order: adjuster cable, cable guide, adjustor lever, adjuster springs, Hold-Down washers and springs and then the brake shoes. I suggest you get a aftermarket repair manual as it has a few diagrams that will make complex text instructions easy to understand. (posted by "MelancholyMutt")

You will need a floor jack to support the engine and a jack stand, along with the tools to take loose the alternator, compressor and adjustor for the main belt. You will need to take off the passenger side front wheel, and take loose the engine mount )support the engine with the floor jack before taking loose the engine mount on the fender. Only loosen and take loose the mount from the engine side. This needs to be pulled out of the way along with the tire in order to have access to the belts. start at the outer most belt and work in to remove the belts, then do the reverse for the install.

first try buying a small can of fan belt dressing and carefully put it on the SIDES of the belt (where it contacts the pulley). Also the belt may be streched - so you can try to tighten the belt by adjusting the takeup adjustor. Or finally replace the belt - if none of these work. Your car does not have a fan belt. Belt dressing is bad mmmmkay. Messy and will cause more problems (redneck temporary fix). Make sure your belt is tight or have someone check it for you. If it is a serpentine belt (tension is spring loaded) check the tensioner and check for bad pulley bearing. But in 2002, most fans are electric. which means no belt to squeal.
