"Fear is the thief of dreams." is a quote by Brian Krans in the book A Constant Suicide. Award-winning journalist and author Brian Krans lives and works in the Midwest. A Constant Suicide is his first novel. Like his characters, Krans' experience at college was filled with many hours in party houses and even longer hours catching up in the library afterward. It was the hectic lifestyle of a student-partier and other forces that sent Krans into a state of depression that ended in a suicide attempt his junior year, only to be rescued by his roommate and cousin. In November 2006, in conjunction with the Q-C November Novelists, Krans expanded a short story he wrote at Winona State University into A Constant Suicide. Between a full-time job as a newspaper reporter, a weekend job as a bartender and volunteering with teenage kids, Krans wrote this part-fiction, part-memoir of his college experience. He is thirty-one years old (2013)

Zig Ziglar wrote:

"You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want."

If you have talent, skill, knowledge or experience which you can use to do this, and these 'other people' want something badly enough, they will pay you well. You don't necessarily need a formal qualification, if you can show them that you can help them. But if they're going to be paying you well despite you not having a degree, most likely you'll either be selling them something, or helping THEM to sell something.

It turns out that for the majority of people, getting paid well isn't necessarily the most important thing in terms of life satisfaction.

Confucius said: "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

Consider where your talents and inclinations lie. Are you good at writing? Computer graphics? Face to face marketing? Web site design? Have you a head for figures, or perhaps superb organisational skills?

It may be that in order to capitalise on your main strengths, you do need to work for a degree or whatever. Most of the "greenest" well-paid jobs probably do go to people with degrees. (And many of the best-paid jobs probably aren't very green!)

But, again, you may be looking to start your own business, rather than for someone to employ you. As an entrepreneur, you wouldn't need any qualifications - although you would need certain qualities that many people just don't have.

You might think it's great not having an employer who tells you what to do all the time; but in many ways having a boss is easier.

When you finish work for the day, you can go home and leave him to stress out and lose sleep over the business.

But if you do want to run the show yourself, and you don't have much in the way of capital, or higher education, you might do well to think about running a business using the world wide web. Internet marketing has low barriers to entry compared to most business startups, and there are many different, proven business models to choose from.

If you choose just one suitable one, and find a genuine teacher to guide you, AND you can focus on getting the work done, stage by stage, without distraction, you can earn a very good living without having to contribute to global warming by commuting!

Difference between Selling and Marketing

Marketing is much wider than selling and much more dynamic.

The fundamental difference between the two is that selling revolves around the needs and interest of the seller.

Where as Marketing revolves around the needs and the interest of the buyers.

Selling is an inside-out perspective. Its starts from factory, focuses on the company's existing products, and calls for heavy selling and promotion to obtain profitable sales.

Marketing takes an outside-in perspective It starts with a well defined markert, focuses on customer needs, co-ordinates all the marketing activities affecting customers, and makes profits by creating customer satisfaction.

******************************************************************

Marketing is the planning, pricing, promotion, packaging, advertising selling of any product or service.

selling is only a sliver of the over all marketing of any product or service. But as Zig Ziglar says "nothing happens until someone sells something" and what he means is that sales is not a four letter word but a five letter word.

Many marketing consultants talk about marketing as the "message to the consumer" or potential client or prospect. there is always a message in; Promoting, packaging, signage, advertising,

Selling is also about delivering the message to the customer or prospect as well and it is a much closer message, person to person and selling can take the form of a telephone call, personal visit, demo, presentation or even an ad hoc or chance meeting with a conversation and later follow up.

Most sales Managers Consider selling to be about report and relationship building; getting to know the potential customer or prospect their desires and needs and solving a problem by offering your product or service to them

Marketing is in fact the act of 'bringing the product to market'. Selling is about closing a sale and turning a potential buyer into a customer. Closing a sale is also called a conversion.

Marketing is primarily about research - identifying potential buyers and then finding the best way to introduce your product to them.

Selling is about overcoming objections. It is a one to one technique where the seller helps the buyer to reach a decision. Selling is when all marketing research is applied at the point of sale.

Marketing is an art as well as a numbers game.sales is more of an art only.

Broadly, Marketing creates the atmosphere to make it easy for sales to happen. Marketing consists things like:

Marketing Strategy,target market etc.

Sales" obviously is getting out and writing the orders ... tough disciplined work. This involves skills like "closing" the sale - very different skills to Marketing

Good sales people do not make good marketers and vice versa ...

A marketer is a creative person, a law unto himself, a person with few boundaries, a person who lives inside the head of your customer, a person who dreams and creates at any/all hours of day and night, a person who can send normal disciplined people crazy. For a marketer, the thrill of the chase is creating original thinking / products - original ideas that work, ideas that nobody else thought about. Top marketers are some of the world%2

What is Business Ethics?

Business ethics is the behavior that a business adheres to in its daily dealings with the world. The ethics of a particular business can be diverse. They apply not only to how the business interacts with the world at large, but also to their one-on-one dealings with a single customer.

Many businesses have gained a bad reputation just by being in business. To some people, businesses are interested in making money, and that is the bottom line. It could be called capitalism in its purest form. Making money is not wrong in itself. It is the manner in which some businesses conduct themselves that brings up the question of ethical behavior.

IMPORTANCE OF BUSINESS ETHICS / IMPORTANCE OF ETHICS IN BUSINESS INVESTMENT:

Business ethic is that aspect of corporate governance that has to do with the moral values of managers encouraging them to be transparent in business dealings. Business ethics takes into consideration the feelings of customers in fashioning out the services or goods that is given to our customers. It also takes into account the interest of other stakeholders.

Good business ethics is the backbone of every forward thinking business. This is more important now that consumerism has rooted deep into the heart of the customers. Consumerism is a term that is used to explain the rights of customers and the position of the law as far as knowing the content of what they consume is concerned.

In this article, I will be discussing the importance of having good business ethics in all our business endeavors.

BENEFITS OF GOOD BUSINESS ETHICS

Good business ethics brings much goodwill to a company that will in the long run translate into tangible benefits. Goodwill is that intangible asset that a company has earned over her period of operation as a result of being perceived by business associates and other third parties as being transparent, reliable, straightforward, trustworthy, etc

Note the use of the word ‘earned’, this means that true goodwill is earned and not purchased. Forget about the accounting goodwill here. Some of the tangible benefits that accrue a company for operating on an ethically sound business values are:

PROFITABILITY

The first direct dividend of ethical business operation is ‘profitability.’ A company that is based on sound business value is more likely to be profitable than a company operating on corrupt practices.

GOING CONCERN IS ASSURED

Being profitable will ensure that the company be around for at least the next twelve months. It is the desire of every business entity to be around for a longer time. Ethical business practice is the way to go if you and your business truly value going concern.

SUSTAINABILITY

Without sustainability, investmentsin business will simply not yield fruit. And without running your business on sound ethical values, sustainability will not be achieved in businesses and investments.

COMPETITIVE EDGE

Quality save money is a popular belief in accounting, business and investment. You will save the cost of reworking defects borne out of using poor equipment and employment of sharp practices. Again, this will give you and your investment (business) easy access to the heart of the general public if you build your business on ethical values and principles.

Like Zig Ziglar would always say, “you will get all that you want in life if you can simply help enough others get what they want.” He called this the ‘golden rule philosophy.’ And it is indeed a golden rule philosophy.

This philosophy is not only applicable in general life interactions. In fact, it is truer in the world of business. Your customers and other stakeholders in the business community will naturally come to love and appreciate your company and the product you have to offer if they discover that you uphold business ethics in your business operation.

Good business ethics will definitely reflect on the quality of your products, because you have the satisfaction of your customers at hand while you were producing your products.

Uphold good and sound business ethics in your business operation and watch your business soar!
