Eagan won gold in men's light-heavyweight class boxing at the 1920 Summer Games in Antwerp and gold in men's four man bobsleigh at the 1932 Winter Games in Lake Placid.

Three other athletes have won medals in both the Summer and Winter Games (Jacob Tullin Thams of Norway, Christa Rothenburger of East Germany, Clara Hughes of Canada) but Eagan is the only athlete to have won gold at both the Summer and Winter Games.
