It was filmed in 1954. WHERE I do not know of. But the director-Douglas Sirk- says that the book was based on a Greek legend called Alcestis. I am terribly sorry if I didn't give you good information! If you watch the movie, or read the book, I hope you enjoy it! It seemed like a good romantic movie, not necessarily a chick-flick. I hope I gave you the info you needed! =) :) =D :D <3

When snow builds up near the top of a really, really, really tall rock hill, it freezes solid. More snow is added and freezes. Finally, so much snow is added and is frozen, that the weight of it starts it moving down the hill. (This is the start of a glacier) . But that huge mass of ice is attached securely to the underlying rock, so takes a big 'bite' of rock with it, leaving behind a scooped out hole in that side of the hill. This hollow area is called a 'cirque" (sirk) So now you have a tall hill with one side scooped out, leaving sharp edges to the sides and top of the scoop, or cirque.

The rest is simply . . . cirques form side by side all around the hill, and the result is, well, a pointy mountain.
