tacos
South-Central Mexico is the region where tacos were first created by the Aztec people some 700 years ago. When Spain conquered Mexico, some ingredients changed, but tacos have kept most of the original recipe: corn or wheat tortillas wrapped around a meat stew.It is worth noting tacos served on food chains outside of Mexico have nothing to do with the original dish: the hard shell used in chains like Taco Bell are commonly known as "tostadas" in Mexico.
Though the appearance of similar sandwiches world wide does cause debate, the taco comes from Mexico but actually predates the country. Mind you, the word DOES NOT, and conflicting stories exist as to when tacos began being referred to as tacos. One source claims it was in the 1900s, another claims the Conquistadors used the word in reference to early fish tacos eaten by natives of the Valley of Mexico. In short however, tacos originated in Mexico.
A taco is a preparation or finish product just like burritos or enchiladas, and there are no "original ingredients" in it because the ingredients vary from one area to another. For example, you might find fish tacos on areas close to the coast and maybe beef, pork or chicken tacos in rural areas, but basically tacos are made from anything you like to put in them. Some areas like to use the nopal cactus, while others prefer meat. One thing is basic on tacos and that is the tortilla... normally made from corn "masa". Mostly in the US the flower tortilla is used, but is not as common in Mexico. If you are trying to make a specific type of taco, then you would want to re-phrase your question to include the particular name of the preparation. For example: tacos de adobada, tacos al pastor, tacos de carnitas, tacos de nopales, etc. Hope this helps.
In my tacos yes I use red beans. I mash the beans add them to the cooked taco meat and season. You did not ask this but another piece of information for my tacos is I boil the ground beef for the tacos. Drain add beans, season and eat!
Eating
Tequila's used as a meat marinade in the US, so I would assume that Mexico has also learned it creates a delicious steak.
"no they arent there American" is not entirely accurate. Back in the day (early 70's) when surfer of all colors would head down to Ensenada and points in between to surf they discovered some very cool food that although was new to them was very tasty. I know because I lived it and I was there...BUT I'm Mexican so what was natural to me was foreign to my fellow beach lovers. Menudo (tripe soup w/hominy) is something that used to be served only on special occasions or weekends and surfers discovered among other things that it was an excellent thing to have for breakfast after a night of swilling down cases of Tecate beer. Fish/seafood tacos came about because the fisherman saw an opportunity to use the little bits and pieces of fish to support their family. How? Anything is good friend and the taqueros would fry the fish, shrimp and other things in hot lard, after coating it with a delicate batter, smother with finely chopped cabbage and a killer white or "crema" sauce and POW!! Great tacos, cheap to make and the tourists loved it!! To add to this Anthropologists discovered the use of fish in tacos in the lake region of the Valley of Mexico.
It is made as a dressing for other dishes. Hot sauces are commonly used to eat meats and other salty dishes, such as roasted beef, tacos and quesadillas.
Tacos
The word tacos is not a color. Tacos refers to a Mexican type of food. Traditional colors are red, blue, green, orange, black, brown, and yellow. While there are some foods that are used to describe a color, the word tacos is not one of them.
