You really don't have to "get" them to breed they do it on there own! But, there are certain things the female needs while she is pregnant. You need to make sure they have a lot of calcium and protein! It is very important in a pregnant geckos diet! If the gecko lays eggs at a young age it will take a lot of calcium that she needs out of her. You want to feed her quit often and make sure if you feed them crickets that they are covered in brand name calcium powder. Every so often check her cage and make sure she hasn't layed her eggs. It can be dangerous if they aren't put in an incubator for so long.
Most geckos in captivity will mate all year. Make sure if you only have one female to one male, you keep an eye on them. After the male has mated with her and she becomes gravid, he will want to keep mating with her. This might be to much for the female and cause injury to her. It is best to remove the male until the female fully recovers from egg laying.
In my opinion it is best to keep male and female separate at all times. Introduce the male for breeding only.
As with all reptiles, males mate with females, and transfer sperm, which fertilize the eggs. Eggs then develop inside the female. In leopard geckos, a thin calcium shell is formed, and the eggs will be laid in sets of 2, three or four weeks apart. eggs are somewhat leathery, and are not hard-shelled like bird eggs. Females may lay 8 or more clutches of two eggs, and will store sperm in their body to fertilize the eggs, so only need to breed once in order to do so.
Eggs incubate in a moist, warm area for around 60 days, and then the young geckos emerge, shed their skin, and begin eating. They are on their own. Leopard geckos do not guard their eggs nor care for their young (in fact, they might eat small hatchlings).
Yes two leopard geckos can breed from the same male and you can also breed them to the male
it will take a few weeks and then you should find eggs
Female leopard geckos should weigh at least 45 grams before being bred.
no
This is some reasons a leopard geckos and Madagascar day geckos can't live together: #1: Madagascars have a different environment than leopard geckos. Madagascar day geckos live in tropical conditions and leopard geckos live in desert conditions. #2 they would be fighting because they are territorial.
NO - Leopard geckos are not venomous. The shape of their eyes is no indication.
Leopard geckos cannot eat spinach, but they can eat crickets, meal worms, superworms, are all great choices leopard geckos like varity so change it up!
No, a geckos leopard geckos diet consists of live feeders such as insects, arachnids, arthropods and smaller reptiles.
leopard geckos
Most Leopard geckos will weigh in from 40-60 Grams, depending on gender and bloodlines. There is a morph of leopard gecko that are called "Giant" leopard geckos. This particular genetic allows leopard geckos to reach 100Grams +.
No dog. Geckos are not known to like animals bigger than they are. Bigger animals can eat them.
No, these geckos are a solitary species.
