Yes. Flat stones make great basking spots! Rocks from outside should be washed before they are put into the tank. Make sure they are not small enough for your lizard to eat! This could cause serious health complications.

If I were you I would not put any loose substrate in a bearded dragons Viv, as they could swallow it, and it will kill them. What I've done is just put slate on the bottom.
