They have what can be called barbs all over their bodies. If you pet a snake going from the head to the tail they are nice and smooth but pet them going from the tail to the head and they feel prickly. These barbs help them hold onto things such as trees so they can climb

I would like to know this answer too! The little bit of information I could find says that they're too heavy to pull their bodies up a wall, though a small one might be able to. But it's very rare that they climb anything. I hope this is true.

It would depend on the type of wall. A vertical and quite smooth wall would be virtually impossible to climb. A wall constructed of rocks would cause few problems for the snake.
