Each part of the Bible, each "chapter" so to speak, is called a "book". The reason is historical: the Bible is a collection of different writings, that were more or less independent from one another. Somebody decided that those writings were to be considered Holy Scripture. In fact, opinions on what is included in the Bible vary - some of the books are recognized by some Christians (and other religions), but not by others.
The Bible is often referred to as a collection of books because it is composed of different texts written by various authors over centuries. It includes a diverse range of genres, such as historical accounts, poetry, prophecies, letters, and teachings, all compiled together to form the sacred scripture of Christianity.
Catholics believe there are 46 books in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. Most Protestant faiths claim there are only 39 inspired books in the Old Testament but agree that there are 27 in the New Testament. The extra seven books in the Catholic versions of the Bible are called the Deutero-canonicals and include the books of Tobit, Judith, Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach, Baruch, and 1st and 2nd Maccabees. Some Protestant versions of the Bible also include these seven books but they are not considered to be inspired by God and are generally called the Apocryphal Books.
The Pentateuch or the Torah is actually the Jewish Bible, but is accepted by Christianity as the part of the Bible which comprises the first five books of the Old Testament which are known, in English, as Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
The Hebrew Bible contains twenty-four books which are divided into three parts: the five books of Torah, the Nevi'im, and the Ketuvim. On the other hand, the first part of the Christian Bible is the Old Testament, which contains the twenty-four books of the Hebrew Bible that are divided into thirty-nine books. They are also ordered in a different way than the Hebrew Bible's books.
The laws of Moses were written in five books called the Torah, also known as the Pentateuch. These books are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. They are considered foundational texts in Judaism and are also an important part of the Christian Bible.
The 20th book in the Hebrew Bible is the book of Proverbs. It is considered one of the "wisdom" books in the Old Testament and is attributed mostly to King Solomon.

The extra group of books are called the Apocrypha or deuterocanonical by Catholics. These "extra" Old Testament books include Tobit, Judith, Maccabees, Sirach, and several others.
The books that are not included in the Bible are generally called the apocrypha and the pseudepigrapha.
