In Exodus, was the sin the dancing or the golden idol? The commandment says 'Thou shalt have no other god before me', not 'Thou shalt not dance.' In Matthew, dancing is not the sinning being done here. There was lust, perhaps perjury, and a scheming mind. Galatians -dance does not appear on the list as a work of the flesh. I have never seen a definition that dancing fit in these categories. Dancing is a celebration of life and the body. For we are told in 1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body. 2 Samuel 6:14 David, wearing a linen aphid, danced before the LORD with all his might, Ecclesiastes 3 A Time for Everything 1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. Matthew 11:16 The words of Jesus Christ: "To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: 17" 'We played the Flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge and you did not mourn.' Exodus 15:20-21 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. Judges 11:34 And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances. Psalms 30:10-12 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. Ps.149:3 Let them praise his name in the dance. Psalms 150:4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance. Luke 15:22-25 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing. The United Society of Believers in Christ's Second Appearing, a very conservative sect, are commonly referred to as "Shakers." The name came from "Shaking Quakers" and was applied as an insulting description of their rituals of trembling, shouting, dancing, shaking, singing, and speaking in tongues. == == Bottom line ... no it's not a sin to dance. There are two things that all races can relate too and it's music. That includes sound, dance. It's an expression of oneself and good for the soul. Often dancing was considered a pagan ritual a multitude of centuries ago. Exodus 32:19-21, 31 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot.... And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them? Matthew 14:6-8 But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask. And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger. Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, sedition's, heresies, Envying, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.... sin(3A) = sin(2A + A) = sin(2A)*cos(A) + cos(2A)*sin(A)= sin(A+A)*cos(A) + cos(A+A)*sin(A) = 2*sin(A)*cos(A)*cos(A) + {cos^2(A) - sin^2(A)}*sin(A) = 2*sin(A)*cos^2(A) + sin(a)*cos^2(A) - sin^3(A) = 3*sin(A)*cos^2(A) - sin^3(A)
