Guru Arjain Dev (fifth Guru) put all the other Gurus teachings in the Granth Sahib. He took the task of collecting all of the hymns and poems and scriptures that other Sikh Gurus wrote not only of the Gurus but other saints and holy men. Having the Granth finished he placed it on the newly-furbished Sahib in the Golden Temple.
