An Ox Goad is a tool that was used in the Old Testament days to move and prod oxen. It was a long wooden pole 8-10 ft long and about 2 " in diameter. It had a sharp iron spear like point on one end and an iron flat shovel like piece on the other. The pointed end was used to move oxen and the flat piece to clean farm implements of mud and dirt etc. It was by Shamgar in The Bible to defeat 600 men.
The account at Judges 3:31 says: "After Ehud came Shamgar son of Anath, who struck down six hundred Philistines with an oxgoad. He too saved Israel. "(NIV)
Shamgar, an ancient judge of Israel, killed 600 Philistines with an ox goad as mentioned in the Book of Judges in the Bible. He is known for his bravery and unconventional weapon choice in defeating the enemy.

Not King Saul...butNebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon, had challenged God, and was given seven years of madness, where he THOUGHT he was 'a beast of the field' like a bull, until he humbled himself. (Daniel 5:21)Daniel 4:31-33andSaul (not King Saul, but the man who became the Apostle PAUL) was compared to a 'bull or an Ox' because he kept 'kicking against the goads' when it came to Jesus. In the ancient agricultural society of Israel, and shepherd (or livestock keeper) used a 'goad' (Oxgoad, a long stick with a sharp point) to straighten out an unruly animal. If the animal kicked at it, it general hurt itself more than anything else. So, before Saul became a Christian, he was persecuting Christians, and Jesus had to straighten him out. As a stubborn bull hurts itself in resisting the prickings of a goad, Saul had hurt himself by fighting against Jesus' followers, who had God's backing. He learned a lesson and became a fine Christian overseer.(Acts 26:4)
