The Bible itself says that Jesus is the "son of God", the"first born of all creation"(Matthew 16:16)(Colossians 1:15; Revelation 3:14). He was in heaven long before being sent to earth by his father, to be born as a perfect human child(Luke 1:35)(John 3:13)(John 6:38)(John 8:23)
He was sent for a specific purpose: To 'ransom' mankind (Matthew 20:28)and pay the price for Adam's sin(Romans 5:12, 18,19, 23); Perfect human life for perfect human life.
The Jewish nation was set up to supply the 'Messiah' in the flesh.
This Jewish nation was made up of twelve family lines which came from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the line chosen for the Messiah(Shiloh) was Judah, the line of kings.(Genesis 49:10)
David was from this line, and was a sincere and faithful worshiper of YHWH, the God of the Israelites(John 8:54) and prefigured the Messiah(Isaiah 11:1-5, 10; Romans 15:12) because of his sincere faith and strong adherence to God's laws. Even though he made some serious mistakes, his strong faith was rewarded by his being included in Messiah's lineage(Matthew 1:1+6). Joseph and Mary were BOTH from David's family, through different sons, so in a fleshly sense Jesus was born also in the 'line of David' (as a descendant (seed) .
These facts give Jesus the spiritual, legal and natural right to be King of God's Kingdom. (Luke 1:32, 33)
Jesus is considered the seed of David through his lineage, as David was an ancestor in his family tree. On the other hand, he is seen as the Son of God because of his divine nature, believed by Christians to be the second person of the Holy Trinity. These aspects highlight both his earthly heritage and his spiritual essence.
In both the Old and New Testaments, God spoke to Jesus in an audible voice. At Jesus' baptism in the New Testament, God's voice was heard affirming Jesus as His Son. In the Old Testament, on the Mount of Transfiguration, God's voice was also heard confirming Jesus' identity.
Christians believe that God's covenant with David is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ, who is considered by many to be from the line of David. Jesus is seen as the eternal king and the fulfillment of the promise of a kingdom that will last forever. This belief is emphasized in the New Testament, particularly in the Gospels and in Christian theology.
In Christian belief, the concept of God having a Son is typically associated with the teachings of Jesus Christ. While there are references in the Old Testament that some interpret as foreshadowing the coming of Jesus as the Son of God, the explicit revelation of God having a Son was primarily taught by Jesus during his ministry on Earth.
This phrase introduces the genealogy of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew. By tracing Jesus' lineage back to David and Abraham, it establishes his royal and messianic lineage in accordance with Jewish expectations. This emphasizes Jesus' rightful claim to the title of Messiah.
Abraham is considered the father of many nations and is a key figure in salvation history because God established a covenant with him, promising to make his descendants into a great nation. Through Abraham's faith and obedience, God's plan for salvation and the coming of Jesus Christ began to unfold, as his lineage eventually led to the birth of Jesus. Abraham's willingness to trust and obey God serves as an example for believers to have faith in God's promises and to follow Him wholeheartedly.
God made a covenant with King David that his seed would remain on the throne forever. Jesus Christ is the seed that will reign from Jerusalem during the millennium. He is King of Kings and Lord of lords and will rule forever
Both. Jesus was both the son of God and, in the human sense, descended from David.
Jesus was not from David's seed.see related link "The Infancy of Christ"Answer:Yes. Christ will return for that part after the Gospel is preached to every land on Earth. Note: Jesus, was from David's seed from Mary as well as Joseph although is father was actually God via the Holy Spirit.
David was always ready to listen to god and so Jesus, but then the other kings were not.
No. Adultery is sin and God cannot sin.
Rom 1: 3-4. Concerning his Son Jesus Chrst our Lord, which was made of the seed david according to the flesh; and declared [to be] the son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Pr. Ruben Molina Ossers www.upavision.com
He was born of a virgin and his father was God, that makes him both human and God.
No god created both. But Jesus was his son.
All Christians call Jesus the son of God. This is a basic belief of Christianity. If a group doesn't call Jesus the son of God then I would say they are not Christian.Romans 1:3 ..........concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,Romans 1:4 and declared to be the Son of Godwith power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.
yes both of them were Jews and feared God so God chose this family to have Jesus.
If a man deliberately commits sin and knowingly does so, he places himself in the hands of Satan. This is only figurative as Satan cannot have children. He can only adopt those who choose him as their father.
Good question! To satisfy the Jewish expectations of the Messiah, Jesus had to link himself to the line of King David. Christians believe that Joseph, his father, was a direct descendant of David, but that God was the one who impregnated Mary. So linking him to both was trying to satisfy the Jews and the followers of the so-called Jesus Movement (Christianity wasn't really a religion until well after Jesus' death; it was more of a sect of Judaism). It isn't "important" to say Jesus was the son of David but the Bible describes him as being the "son of David" because Joseph (Mary's husband) was descended from King David. It says this because Jewish prophecies at the time said that the messiah would be descended from David's family. And this is where you hit on one of the main contradictions in the Bible. Remember Mary was a virgin when she became pregnant with Jesus and the Bible tells us that Jesus is God's son but if that is true then he wouldn't be descended from David - because God, not Joseph is his dad. The other alternative is that Mary wasn't a virgin and Jesus was actually Joseph's son. That would mean he would be descended from King David but he wouldn't be God's son - which defeats the whole point. He can't be both descended from David and be God's son at the same time. I know I probably went into more detail than you expected there but these things are often more complicated than you think.
