Saint Theresa, also known as Saint Teresa of Avila, was a Spanish mystic, writer, and reformer in the Catholic Church during the Counter-Reformation. She is best known for her spiritual writings and for her efforts to reform the Carmelite Order. She was canonized as a saint in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV.
