Francis Xavier was a co-founder of the Society of Jesus, Jesuit order of Catholic priests. He was a student of St. Ignatius Loyola. He was born in April 1506 and died in December, 1552. He lived in what is now the country of Spain. He is most famous for being a pioneer missionary to India. He was very influential in spreading the Catholic faith to India.

Saint Francis was an Apostle of India and also in Japan. He was born in Spain of the year 1506. He was a hardworking student. His life made a major turn around when he went to Paris, where there he had met Saint Ignatius of Loyola. In August Saint Francis followed Ignatius in the formation of the Jesuits. Saint Francis first assignment was to go to the Middle East in 1536, he was famous for his missions, he tried to convert the people into Christianity. He spread the word of the Lord. -Aileen B.
