Jesus was crucified to be the ultimate sacrifice. This was God's plan. The people who crucified Him simply didn't know what they were doing until it was too late. They hated Him because they thought He was impersonating God. They didn't realize until after He was dead that He truly was the Son of God.
Before Jesus died, people would sacrifice lambs, which only took care of their sins for a year. After a year was up, they had to sacrifice again, because the person was guilty of their sins once again. When Jesus died, all the world's sins came upon Him. He was so black with sin that God had to look away. He couldn't stand to see His Son with sins on Him.
After Jesus died, people no longer had to sacrifice for they're sins. They simply had to ask for forgiveness through Christ and they were forgiven. This is the same as it is today: ask for forgiveness in Christ and you will be forgiven. This is why that Jesus is called the Lamb of God. He died so that people could enter into Heaven.
The Scripture also indicates that the LORD is our Shepherd. As David said: "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want." Psalm 23:1. Jesus and God are One. He said: "I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep." John 10:11. John the Baptist said: "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." John 1:29.
This means that Jesus is both the Good Shepherd and the sacrificial Lamb of God. That makes us as needy to have Him be our Shepherd and to trust Him as the Lamb of God who died for our sins. Christ also said: "I and my Father are one." John 10:30.
In Isaiah 53:10,11, we are told in advance about His Crucifixion: "It pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities." This not only tells us the purpose of the Crucifixion, but also indicates the pleasure of God in His Resurrection.
No; that was Jesus the son of God in Christianity.
I would say that it was God who directed Mary Magdalene to the cross when Jesus was crucified, as he directed the disciples. This is according to Philippians 2.13. "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure."
