Surat An-Najm (The Star).
The surah that is equivalent to reading one-third of the Qur'an is Surat-ul-Ikhlas. The hadith that tells us about this surah being equivalent to one-third of the Qur'an was narrated by Abu Sa'id: Abu Sa'id narrated that he heard the Prophet (S) saying: "Isn't every one of you able to recite one third of the Quran during a night?" They thought it was very difficult, so they asked: "Who is able to do that, O Apostle of Allah?" He responded: "He is Allah, the One and Only is one third of the Qur'an." (The mention of "He is Allah, the One and Only" is a reference to the first ayah, or verse, of Surat-ul-Ikhlas.)
Al-Ekhlass (The Sincerity).
sura Ikhlas (no. 112)بسم الله الرحمن الرحيمSay, "He is Allah, [who is] One, (1) Allah, the Eternal Refuge. (2) He neither begets nor is born, (3) Nor is there to Him any equivalent." (4)
Surah Yasin has been called the heart of Quran. As regards the reason why this chapter is called the heart of the Quran, the scholars stated that it is because it contains many great matters concerning confirming the Oneness of Allaah, the Resurrection, the Recompense, and so forth, so it is like a heart in its importance compared to other limbs of the body. The Surah was revealed in the city of Makkah. The Surah is based on eighty three verses which have been classified into five main sections. The Surah starts with the affirmation of our dearest Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that he is on the right path indeed. The Surah first narrates the story of the settlement and then asks its readers to think hard on the phenomenon on which this world is running. It asks the people to ponder on stars and planets and the sun to learn about the origination of the world and see if they could find any other person then the Supreme Being who have created the whole universe. Allah (SWT) asks the non believers to ponder on the realities of the world and then decide if anything else is worthy of being worshipped. The third phase of the Surah deals with the resurrection. It makes it clear to the non believers that it is hard to put back pieces of dead things back, however, Allah (SWT) says that water will also hold the power to resurrect the dead on the Day of Judgment. The Surah then turns over to the behaviour of capitalists who do not help the poor or needy due to their greediness. The Surah also clears that non believers used to call Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) a poet, however, he is not a poet, and he only carries the message of Allah (SWT). He (Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him) only preaches what Allah (SWT) asks him to preach. His knowledge is authentic and does not carry imaginary tales or false assertions. It has been reported by Aisha (radiAllahu anha) that the Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said that there is a surah in the Quran that intercedes for its reciter and forgive its listener. Know! It is Surah Yasin. It is called Muamma in the Torah. It was enquired, what is Muamma? The Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, it embraces the person with the goodness of this world and removes the dismay of the Hereafter [Hashiya of Tafsir Jalalayn , pg 368] At another place, Al-Hafiz Abu Ya'la recorded that Abu Hurayrah radiallahu anhu said, "The Messenger of Allah said, "Whoever recites Ya Sin in the night, will wake up forgiven, and whoever recites Ha Mim in which Ad-Dukhan (the Smoke) is mentioned, will wake up forgiven". Its chain of narration is good (Jayyid). [Tafsir Ibn Kathir] There are many other virtues as well, which have been attributed to Surah Yaseen. If you recite it in the early part of the day, your all needs will be fulfilled. Another tradition of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) declares that whoever recites this Surah, his past sins will be forgiven therefore, and you should recite it for those who are dead!
