Even if you not believe Jesus to be the son of God. You can apply his teachings to your life today and achieve positive results. His philosophy is timeless, universal and humanistic. If you do believe Jesus to be the Messiah then you have the added bonus of looking forward to meeting Him and getting answers to all of your questions.
Your question includes contradiction, since you used words today and history after another. History means things which happened before today.
But how important you consider Jesus to be to history?
He started a religion called Christianity which has led to deaths of (possibly hundreds of) millions of people, via crusades, missions, killings of pagans, heretics, atheists, jews, native people, witch-hunt, religious wars, inquisition, reformational conflicts and other massacres.
That religion is still the most popular in the world and continues to spread it's foul Propaganda message to oppress people and to wrench wealth from them while protecting it's corrupt leaders and child-molesting clergy from the law and justice.
because people still love Him, of what He has done for our salvation
and because the things he did are still happening today! All around the world miracles are happening - The blind are seeing, the mute are speaking, the deaf are hearing, the lame are walking. Cancer is being healed. And, as above - for what Jesus did for us.
The birth of Jesus was so important that it split history in two. A third of the world openly follow him. Still, importance is a personal thing. Its up to you.
because when there was time of Jesus the people who saw the jesus in his life told the story to their child and then the story was hear by so many people like saying to others so thats why we know the history of Jesus...
Judas Iscariot was important as he betrayed Jesus with a kiss , and so Jesus was sent to Pilate and then crucified.
Because Jesus is the most important man in Christianity and Jewism, which covers up alot of the worlds population. So, due to majority, Jesus's birth is the dividing line separating BC from AD.
The jews do not consider him important at all.
He was important in history because he formed the biggest army in ancient history.
