Because according to Christian teaching, Jesus was not only a God, equal to the Father, but he was a man. If he had no body, he could not be a man. The teachings say that Jesus came down from heaven and was a man in totality, suffering as a man would, feeling everything a man would, so he would understand what it is to be human. Which makes his sacrifice on the cross all the more important and tragic. Hebrews 2:17, 18 - Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

I am not sure who is calling Jesus the "body of Christ", but no, Jesus is not the body of Christ. Believers in Jesus around the world are the body of Christ (Romans 12:5, "...so we (believers), being many, are one body in Christ." Also see I Corinthians 12:14-20; Ephesians 1:22-23.
In the christian faith it is the symbol of Jesus Christ. Jesus says "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." He also uses it as a symbol of his body during the last supper.
After Jesus died on the cross, a man named Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for Jesus' body and it was given to him. Joseph then had the body buried in his tomb. But three days later he rose and He is alive.

Those who believe in Christianity believe that Jesus rose, body and soul, from the dead. That he was a living body still was proved for them when the apostle Thomas touched the wounds on Jesus's body and put his hand into the hole in his side.
Jesus' shroud is the mythical cloth that covered the dead body of Jesus, but there is no record of this in the Bible. Rather, this scripture illustrates the manner of Jesus' burial. Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. (John 19.40)
As Jesus was a very common name and in the bible it refers to several people named 'Jesus'. Also, Christ is is the son of God so the church is the body of God if you break it down.
