Jah is a shortened, poetic form of Jehovah, God's name.
It simply means "praise God." Rastafarians refer to the God they worship as Jah, which is short for Jahweh, or Yahweh.
"Jah" is a shortened form of "Jah Rastafari," a term used by Rastafarians to refer to God. It is a central figure in Rastafarian beliefs and reflects the influence of the reggae culture on the movement.
They believe that 'Jah' is their God
Rastafarians believe in Jah who is the same God that the Jews and Christians believe in but the difference comes in with your understanding of him. The way Rastas understand god is through the ways he reveals himself to us. Jah reveals himself to humanity through the Trinity. The Trinity is basically the three faces of god. These faces are God the father, God the savior and The spirit of God. God the Father is the God that is portrayed in the bible we call him almighty Jah. God the savior is the manifestations of Jah. This manifestations of Jah are the Messieurs that Jah has sent us. These would include Jesus Christ and His Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie 1. The spirit of Jah is the Holy Spirit that came down on the disciples of Jesus on Pentecost. Rastafarians also believe in Emperor Haile Selassie who was the Savior sent by Jah to free the black people from colonialism and Racism just the same as Jesus was sent to free the Jews. This is the corner stone of The Rastafarian Faith. Jah is an active God who sympathizes with his Children who struggle to live in Babylon.
They call Him "Jah". They believe that Jah Is Father, Son (Jesus Christ) Haile Selassie, and the Holy Spirit.
Rastafarians worship one God whom they call Jah. Rastas see Jah as being in the form of the Holy Trinity, that is, God being the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. They accept Haile Selassie I, the former Emperor of Ethiopia as the incarnation of God.
God judges us the same.
Hananiah means ["Jah Has Shown Favor; Jah Has Been Gracious"]. Ha na ni ah("jah"). God has shown favor. Jah or Yah is the shortened form of the devine name :YHWH, Yahweh, (English translation: Jehovah. (Psalms 83:18)
the Rasta's say jah Rastafarian which simply means Eternal God Selassie I. why they say Selassie is because they believe that Selassie whose full name is "Haile Selassie" is GOD, and that he will return to Africa members of the black community who are living in exile. And the Rasta's mostly say these words when honoring their GOD and then end it with "Jah Rastafarian" "Glory be to the father and to the maker of creation. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be World without end". Jah Rastafarian
Even though the Rastafari movement claim that their god named Jah is one, they actually believe he is triune, three in one. They also believe that the Emperor of Ethiopia , Selassie was Jah incarnate.
yes because Jah is god and things work how they will. even if it began as a white-hating religion it has evolved into a religion of faith, god, and peace. True peace that is attained by trusting in Jah, and believing in Jah, whether white, black, asian, hispanic, anyone may join along
