America stretches from Alaska and Canada to the tip of South America. These are the first bishops in North America:

In 1789, Pope Pius VI appointed John Carroll bishop of Baltimore, making him the first Catholic bishop in the United States.

Francois de Laval became Canada's first bishop when the Quebec diocese was established in 1674.

Juan de Zumárraga became the first bishop of Mexico in 1528

There were also bishops in South America in the 16th century. You would have to search for the names of the bishops in each country.

There is only one pope in the Catholic Church who is located in Vatican City. Each country does not have a pope. Australia has no pope other than the pope in the Vatican.
