Ephraim Manasseh
Ephraim and Manasseh.
Ephraim Manasseh
Asenath bore two children to Joseph they were Manasseh, and Ephraim. Ephraim was the second son.
Joseph had another son named Manasseh. Manasseh and Ephraim were both born to Joseph and Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.
MANASSEH (Ma·nas′seh) [One Making Forgetful; One Who Makes Forget]. Joseph's firstborn son and a grandson of Jacob. After Joseph became Egypt's food administrator, Pharaoh gave him Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera the priest of On, as a wife, and she bore Joseph two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh, because, he said: "God has made me forget all my trouble and all the house of my father."-Ge 41:45, 50-52. When Jacob blessed Manasseh and Ephraim, he persisted in putting his right hand on Ephraim and his left on Manasseh, thereby placing the younger Ephraim before Manasseh. (Ge 48:13-20) As indicated thereby, Ephraim was to become greater than Manasseh. Manasseh had sons by a Syrian concubine (1Ch 7:14), and Joseph lived long enough to see the sons of Manasseh's son Machir.-Ge 50:22, 23. Insight on the Scriptures - Volume 2 (A Bible Encyclopedia)
Joseph's two sons were Ephraim and Manesseh. When the twelve tribes of Israel entered Canaan and divided up the land, Ephraim and Manesseh each received a share of the land, instead of Joseph their father. In this way, Joseph, through his sons, received a "double portion" of the Promised Land.
Manasseh and Ephraim were the sons of Joseph:-Gen 41:51-52And Joseph called the name of the first-born Manasseh, saying, For God has made me forget all my toil and all my father's house. And the name of the second he called Ephraim, saying, For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.
Joseph was married to Asenath daughter of Poti-pherah, the priest of On. Joseph had two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. The offspring of these two sons became the tribes of Manasseh and Ephraim and shared in the inheritance of the Promised Land when Israel settled there.
Joseph made both of his kids tribes of their own, hence Ephraim is the 13th tribe, but a whole tribe not a half.
