A:
Although the gospel accounts tell us that John the Baptist was beheaded in Galilee, with Herod Antipas reluctant to order his death, the first-century Jewish historian Josephus says that he was actually executed in faraway Macherus on the direct orders of Herod, who feared that John could lead an insurrection. John the Baptist would have been buried in an anonymous grave by an unknown labourer under the command of Herod's soldiers.
We have absolutely no idea who buried Elizabeth. It was probably surviving family members and neighbors.
There are relics of John the Baptist in a number of churches throughout Europe. The strange thing is that about 5 or 6 churches claim to have the head of John the Baptist. Perhaps one is the head of John as a baby, one as a child, one as a teen and so forth?
John was beheaded in prison and his head was delivered on a platter to the girl, who brought it to her mother. John's disciples later came and removed John's body and buried him, reporting the matter to Jesus. (Matthew 14:1-12; Mark 6:21-29)
