A:Construction of the temple in Jerusalem is traditionally attributed to King Solomon. However, scholars have noted that the floor plan and construction are similar to Canaanite temples of the period, and suggest that this temple had already been built in Jerusalem before the Hebrew people arrived.

Assuming you are referring to the Jewish Temple, there are three answers. The First Temple was built by Solomon (1 Kings ch.6), close to three millenia ago. It stood for several centuries.

The Second Temple was built by Ezra, some two and one-half millenia ago, and it stood for several centuries.

The third answer is that, around 2000 years ago, Herod dismantled and rebuilt the Second Temple. He did it one wall at a time, so that almost the complete structure remained standing at all times. After he finished, the Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans several decades later.
