The fifth century A.D (or C.E.) is from the years 401 to 500 on the Gregorian calandar.
The eastern part of the Roman Empire was attacked by Barbarians many times. It was repeatably attacked by many tribes during the reign of Marcus Aurelius. It was attacked by the Goths several rimes in the third century ( 238, 2250-51, 255-57 and 266). Only one leader was mentioned by ancient historians for this period. It was Cniva, who seized the city of Philippopolis (Plovdivin Bulgaria) in 250 and killed Emperor Decius and his son Herennius Etruscus at the battle of Abrittus as he was trying to leave the Empire in 251.In the fifth century the Huns attacked the eastern part of the Roman Empire. In 395 there was an attack on the territories of the empire in Asia. We do not know wh their leader was. In 408 and attack across the River Danube was led by Uldin. In 422 Rugila 2 led a Hunnic incursion into Thracia and marched on Constantinople, 440 an attack was led Attila and Bleda, who were brothers and co-rulers.
