Most of Christian history occurs under nondemocratic regimes. Christianity does not advocate democracy. Many of the Founding Fathers of the United States were not Christian; they specifically prohibited an establishment of religion.

Democracy is not a Bible teaching.

Democracy means 'rule of the people / rule by the people'. The Bible teaches that God is the Ruler, Judge, and Lawgiver of the Universe, including this earth.

While in the days of the Israelites he did allow them to have a King, they still had to follow the laws God had given them.

Likewise when Christ came, he instituted a Christian system of behavior.

There are some big differences between democracy (people ruling and making laws) and God ruling. For example: While many government laws do not censure pre-marital sex, adultery, homosexuality; God has outlined different standards which he expects his human creation to abide by. Humans have no vote in these matters. Humans must abide. When humans 'fail', then they're required to 'repent' and resolve to make the necessary changes to align with God's established requirements.

Fortunately, God's laws are absolutely founded on righteousness; He knows what is best for mankind.

Democracy came from the Greeks. Although there is not any teaching that directly supports democracy, there is neither one that opposes it.
