Lourdes is located in South-Western France, close to the Spanish border. It is about halfway between the town of Toulouse and the Atlantic Ocean, close to the town of Tarbes.

Going to Lourdes is a pilgrimage, a visit to a holy place. So while on a pilgrimage to Lourdes or any holy place, you would be doing things like say prayers and going to religious services. In Lourdes you would also visit places associated with St. Bernadette.
The Lake of Lourdes is a completely separate place to where St. Bernadette saw the Virgin Mary. She saw her close to the river Gave, in a place that was then known as the Massabielle. When in Lourdes, people do go to the lake of Lourdes, but it is only a tourist attraction for activities and sight seeing, but has nothing to do with the apparitions or the religious aspects of Lourdes.
By having a number of churches in one part of Lourdes and how religious the place is, which is regularly joined by new guests or visitors. They hold many masses and have a candle lit every evening.
The motto of Lourdes University is 'Discover Your Place'.
Ill people go to Lourdes or if people have disabilities e.g. if someone was blind they would go to Lourdes to get their eyesyght back. Not everyone can get cured by going to Lourdes. Mainly the Roman Catholics but Methodists, Anglicans, Baptists and Presbyterians do too. Anybody is allowed to go but it is a place of pilgrimage so mostly religious people visit there
