Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is considered as the living Guru of Sikhs. Depending on the arrangements of the Gurudwara, usually Guru Granth Sahib is kept in a room where it is placed in a bed and in the morning it is installed for Sikhs and again in the evening it is kept back in its room.

The Guru Granth Sahib is a living Guru and must be treated with respect. The Guru Granth Sahib is carried over ones head as a sign of respect. It would be totally unacceptable to find a Guru Granth Sahib in a library for example. Hope this helps
