the head of a castle was the king!!! or the man of the house
"For the husband is the head of the WIFE, even as Christ is the head of the church... therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their husbands in every thing." (Eph.5:23-24)
The head of the house used to mean the man who owned the house and paid all the bills, but now it can mean any family member who does that, not just a man. Women can be the head of house in this day and age.

The head of the house in ancient Rome was the father/man.
because the bible says so. Christ is the head of man. man is the head of woman. parents are the head of children. Woman means "out of man" therefore, man is the head of woman. its just that simple.
The Bible really never says.

it does not say that in the christian bible...Another Answer:Perhaps you are referring to Paul's writing:1 Corinthians 11:4-7New International Version (NIV) 4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. 5 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head-it is the same as having her head shaved. 6 For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.
