So far, no one has been able to find any founder of Atheism. This is due to the fact that Atheism isn't a religion, it's not a political movement, it's not a trend, and it's not a philosophy. Therefore, it would be very difficult to find the first person to truly belief God doesn't exist. Aethiesm was not founded, it is the lack of religion. When groups began forming cults that collectively believed that various magical being created everything, those that didn't were simply classed as aethiests, whereas before 'religion' was invented aethiests comprised of the entire human race, so there was no need for a group name.
Atheis was never founded because it's not a religion. Atheists aren't an organized group of people. Atheist simply means someone who does not believe in the existence of deity. The word, "atheist," comes from the Greek, "atheos," meaning "without god." According to Wikipedia, the word "atheist" first cropped up sometime in the 18th century.
Atheism is not an organization, fellowship or club so it was never founded. Atheism is a the simple understanding that these is no god or gods. It is a position that was held long before religion was invented. Mark Twain states that the point in time that atheism was supplanted as man's standard position on the need or existence of gods as "Religion was invented when the first con man met the first fool."
There are no atheist founders. Atheist is simply a term to describe people who do not hold a belief in God.
Atheism as a word was coined in 16th century Europe, but the concept is known to date back to 6th century BC Europe and Asia.
Atheists weren't "Founded". There is no organized belief structure, other than that of non-believing. "Atheism is a non-prophet organization". ;)
Atheism was not established or founded by any one individual. It is not an organization or collective group of people that can be "established". In short, nobody.
As Richard Leakey has pointed out, all religions have a beginning, so before religions there would have been atheism. The first people to actually call themselves "atheist" were in the 18th century - the age of enlightenment with Jean Meslier being one of the first.
Atheism isn't a belief system - there aren't regular meetings for atheists! - so you won't see hospitals or orphanages called "The Atheist Hospital", but many leading humanitarians have been or are atheists and the oldest hospital in the USA was founded by a secular government.
