When did the Buddha become enlightened?

Siddattha became a Buddha at a young age- when he was no younger than 20. He did this after he saw all the terrible things life can hold: Old age, Death, illness, poorness, when he sat under the shaded tree and meditated and thought about life.

siddhartha saw the 3 types of suffering he saw an old woman, a man that was very ill and a corpse and later he saw a wise man very poor but at peace with the world and siddhartha thought how could that be possible when hes as poor as a beggar and im a rich prince and im sad and unhappy so............ siddhartha went on a mission to find peace and when he found it then did he become a buddha because he found lots and lots of stuff about suffering, what causes it and what could cure it so i guess that it was his knowledge that made him an intellectual buddha :-D

Year in which Buddha became enlightened:It is believed that Buddha became enlightened in the year 535 BCE at the age of 35 years under a pipal tree (Ficus religiosus).

The factual enlightening:

Enlightening means seeing something in the light of every thing else. It is interpreting everything using logic instead of reasoning.

Enlightening is not like a dance that can be perfected in privacy. It is like Martial Arts that can only be perfected by interacting with people. This means that Buddha became enlightened over a period of decades, till his death at the age of 80 years.

Thus, it is a Buddhist belief that Buddha became enlightened on a particular day in 535 BCE, at the age of 35 years, when meditating under a pipal tree.

2556 years ago Siddharta Gothama sat under a fig tree to meditate. He intended to stay until he discovered the path to enlightenment. The fig (ficus religiosa) became known as the Bodhi Tree. He discovered the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path to reach enlightenment.
