"It is not good for man to be alone..." Genesis 2:18.
All of creation was good. But Adam was in need of relationship. He was created in the image of God, a relational God, who Himself enjoyed relationships with the Son, the Spirit, and then with His creation (specifically mankind).
And God had a plan:
1. It included the whole world be filled with humanity. Adam needed a wife, that they would "be fruitful and multiply" (Genesis 1:22, 28)
2. And it included the marriage relationship being a picture for mankind of our ideal relationship with God. In fact, God calls His followers His "bride" (Isaiah 62:5; Jeremiah 2:).
