The holy wars during the life time of the last Prophet (SAW) were of two types:

1. Ghuzwat; The battle in which the holy Prophet (SAW) was the commander of the Muslim forces; Ghazwah-i-Badr, Uhd, Khundaq, Hunain etc.

2. Saraya; The battle in which The Prophet (SAW) made some Companion the commander of the Muslim force.

He lead 27 Battles with his leadership and 54 battles with his companions,In these wars only 759 non Muslims were killed.

Out of these 81 battles 6526 non Muslims were subjugated under Prophet.He could kill them because they borthered him very much. But he didn't kill them. 2 of them were executed because they were highly criminals

There were more than three battles. Badr, Mut'ah, Hunain, Tabouk are a few that come to mind.
