What is the real meaning of 666?

In the earliest Greek texts it is written as 400 and 200 and 60 and 6. The Revelation was almost certainly written by a native Aramaic speaking Jew because of the nature of the errors when he wrote in Greek.

He gives an important clue when he states that a wise (learned) man will know what it means. In the Jewish community that would be a very highly trained rabbi, one who knew the Qaballa in which all letters in Hebrew also are numbers. Letter substitution gives us TRSO, the Hebrew spelling for Tarsus at the time.

John states clearly that this is a man, so the only conclusion possible is that it is St Paul, of Tarsus, author of most of the New Testament. The true followers of Jesus to this day heed the words of Jesus when He said "Let no man call Me Christ" and consider those who call themselves Christians to be followers of the great heretic Paul, who institutionalized the practice.

I am an United Methodist (different denomination of Christianity) and it is the "mark of the beast" but it is a name. the #666 means Cesare.

The Meaning Of 666:

• It's the "mark of the beast" and in the Bible. it is the number often referred to as the Mark of the Beast. The number 666 is found in Revelation 13:16-18: "He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666." John MacArthur explains "The number represents the essential number of a man. The number 6 falls one short of God's perfect number, 7, and thus points to human imperfection. Antichrist, the most powerful human the world will ever know, will still be a man - a 6. The ultimate in human and demonic power is a 6, not perfect, as God is." John MacArthur explained that the three digits emphasizes man's identity. When Antichrist is revealed, he will be identified with this number. The Bible is not clear what the mark will be: an implant, a microchip, a tattoo. It is wise not to speculate since the Bible does not give detailed information regarding this mark. Many Christians believe strongly that one should refuse the "mark of the beast" meaning any tattoo or microchip or implant, but, who is to know in the future because that could be forced upon people are the implant or microchip could be done while under anesthetic for surgery. It's best to not conjure up too many nightmares about this and ride out he future. It could be hundreds or thousands of years from now.

"they" are people in this world that run after things that they will never be propitiated with. Running after your beauty you will never be mollified, only when you are at peace, then the mark of the beast, the eternal suffering, the perfect symbol of the growth of your lust for beauty will be sated. When you find your thoughts are attracted to the symbols in relation to 666, you may be feeling out of balance right now, focused too much on the material world or are having mental and/or emotional imbalances. This is a sign indicating your thoughts are not clear and you should not continue with this train of thought. Let it pass! This is the mark of the beast. When you have lost the symbol of the beast, 666 turns into 777. The ends do not meet, it signifies that a lesson has been learnt. It's a sign of acknowledgment and achievement - you have learned a lesson that a higher power wanted you to learn about your life.
• The real number according to new translation is 616. Not 666

• It is a reference to three biblical events set to take place at some given point. The opening of the 6th seal, the sounding of the 6th trump and the pouring out of the 6th vial. When these three events occur it will signal the coming of the Antichrist.
• It is religious discrimination at the Jews by the apostles reacting like a scorned lover. hell hath no fury like an apostle scorned. they made this up after being rejected by the Jews. 666 add up to the gematria of chai - life in Hebrew - 18. when gifts are given they are in denominations of 18, you say l'chaim as a toast. it is one of the most sacred numbers in judaism. chaia is eve. this also means that when the messiah reaches his destination & if it is a Jew it will make for instant deniability by the Christians. the new testament is full of such allusions to ensure the messiah cannot be a Jew - unless it's Jesus. the only non Jewish Jew who also happens to be a rabbi. it's all so silly. 2,000 years of bitterness just because they had their feelings hurt.
• The Greek words "Τὸ Μεγα Θηρίον" (to mega therion) which mean "the great beast" add up to 666 by gematria (also called isopsephy), using the numerical values of the ancient Greek letters. This seems to neatly corroborate the idea that counting the number of the beast means doing gematria calculations. The pattern of numerical values is 1 to 9 for the first 9 letters of the ancient Greek alphabet, 10 to 90 for the next 9, and 100 to 800 for the next 8. They did this because they used letters as numerals to write numbers. Hebrew follows the same numerical pattern. It appears that the Hebrews copied the alphabetic system of writing numbers from the Greeks. Anyway, if we copy the same pattern of numerical values onto the modern English alphabet, we will get an assignment ranging from A=1 to Z=800. And then we can look for possible clues to the meaning of 666 by looking for words or names or phrases that add up to 666. But notice that as well as having some very negative associations such as the ones I just showed, 666 also has some holy associations by gematria in English: "True God", "Intelligent God", "Means the Logos", "God's love", "God loves", "Christ's blood", "Kingdom of Christ", "The Messiah kingdom". Notice in particular how we have the polar opposites: God loves=666 & Satan hates=666. So while it is often argued that 6 falls short of God's perfect 7, and 666 thus symbolizes something triply imperfect, I think that interpretation misses the boat. According to Genesis Chapter 1, God created the universe in 6 "days," and said His finished work was "very good." So there is nothing imperfect about the number 6. In fact, according to the mathematical definition of "perfect number," 6 is the first (smallest) perfect number. And 666 is also a number with many beautiful mathematical properties. So I think the ultimate meaning of 666 is most likely the creative power of God, the Logos, the Christ, and the Kingdom of Christ. But the Beast whose number is 666 is a Satanic counterfeit christ or antichrist who comes with that holy number, in order to make a mockery of it.

X ξ Ϛ ...to serve one's own will...freedom

The "number" is neither a numeral, a code, a person, nor the name of an individual.

The reference to this "number" is found in Rev. 13:16-18, as written by the Apostle John. It reads as follows:

Rev. 13:16, "And he¹ caused all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads,

Rev.13:17, "... and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

Rev. 13:18, "Here is wisdom, let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is 666."

When reading this translation it seems obvious, because of such words as "number" and "calculate", to expect the "number" to be a numeral. All bible copies, even as far back as the Codex Sinaiticus (4th century), have translated the old Greek text (X ξ Ϛ) to mean the numeral "666". Instead of helping to recognize the identity of this beast, the use of the "666" has fertilized people's imagination to distort the truth.

The choice of meaning of Greek words is greatly dependant upon the context of the message. Verses 16 to 18 are not referring to a context of numerical interpretation but to one of belief identification within an international forum, in which this dominant world power (beast) has the ideological, political, economic, and military influence to control one's (a nation's) access to buy and sell (trade) based on that nation's allegiance to this empire's image, mark, name, or number of it's name. This "number" is associated with the beast, its mark, its name, and man.

In order to understand the message it is important to pay closer attention to the meaning of the Greek text (Greek English Lexicon, Liddell & Scott, 9th edition) for...

... receive, mark, name, number, calculate, and "X ξ Ϛ".

Receive …Greek word = δωσiν (phonetic...dosin)

…can also mean: to give oneself, to receive willingly

Mark … Greek word = χαραγμα (phonetic...charagma)

…can also mean: sign, characteristic, trait, distinction

Name…. Greek word = ονoμα (phonetic...onoma)

…..can also mean: title, reputation, character, designation

Number…. Greek word = αριθμoν(phonetic...arithmon)

…can also mean: mark of a station, worth, value.

Calculate…. Greek word = ψηθισατω (phonetic...psaythisato)

…can also mean: determine, conclude, identify, recognize

These other meanings of the Greek words clearly refer to a context of character and values identification!

Now, let's take a look at the Greek letters X ξ Ϛ .

In Greek new testament texts, the X ξ Ϛ will be followed by a stroke notation (X ξ Ϛ´) above and to the right of the letters to indicate a numerical interpretation. It is important to note that this convention was acquired during the Byzantine Empire, 4th - 15th century. This stroke notation was therefore not part of the original text. It was also common practice for interpretations to be edited into scripture. Taking into consideration the duality of the Greek alphabet to act as letters or numerals and the scribes' assumption to interpret the greek word "αριθμoν" to signify numeral, the translators interpreted and added the

letters X = 600, ξ= 60, and Ϛ = 6, producing 666.

However, X ξϚ has also another meaning.

The numerical interpretation does not make sense for 3 significant reasons.

First, it does not require "wisdom" to see that the mathematical interpretation of the symbols equals 666. I do not believe that Jesus Christ would highlight the need for wisdom to do simple addition. God's Word has never turned to the use of numerology to communicate the truth.

Secondly, verses 16-18 do not relate to a mathematical context but to one of character-value recognition and allegiance.

Thirdly, since this same "number" applies to a man, to the beast's name (character), and to the beast (government-empire), it must encompass a characteristic common to all three. What can be commonly shared by a government power, its character, and a man? Is it a common value-belief or a common numeral? The answer is obviously that of a common value-belief.

Let's investigate X ξ Ϛ with wisdom and understanding.

XξϚ (as three individual symbols = as one meaning)

The roots of the Greek alphabet are found in the ancient Sematic and Egyptian symbols. Each symbol represented a meaning.

The letter / symbol X …Taw …sign, mark, self

The letter / symbol ξ …Samech …support

The letter / symbol Ϛ …Shin…stigma, recognition of servitude

Therefore X ξ Ϛ = oneself + support + in servitude to.

The (number=belief) is clear.

In servitude to support oneself. The desire to serve one's own interests / to do one's own will.

What is the significance of this interpretation?

· As Individual Man.... To serve one's own interests. The desire to do one's own will.

· National Character.... The belief in the rights of the individual. Will of the people.

· Beast /World Mission...Democracy (def.: people (self) - rule) as a way of life for all nations.

　

Let's look now at Rev. 13: 16-18, but in the light of this information.

Rev. 13:16, "…and this world power brought about everywhere, to all the small and to all the great, and to all the rich and to all the poor, and to all the free and to all the oppressed, the willingness and desire to receive and embrace its characteristic-nature (mark) as their way of life (right hand) or as their belief (forehead) ."

Rev. 13:17, "…and that no nation will be permitted to trade except the ones that have the

distinction (mark) or the character (name) of this world power (beast), or that value (number) his character (name)."

Rev.13:18, "…Here is holy wisdom. Have the understanding to recognize the value/belief of this world power, for it is based on the value/belief of a man. His value/belief is the desire to serve his own interest / his own will (to know good and evil)."

This message is also confirmed by the writings of the prophet Daniel in Daniel 11:36-39.

(Note: This is the description of the last king/world power before the return of Jesus Christ.)

Daniel 11:36;

"Then the king shall do according to his own will; he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done.

Daniel 11:37;

"He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall magnify himself above them all.

Daniel 11:38;

But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things.

Daniel 11:39;

"Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.

However, it has been posited that the person who wrote Revelations was not talking about the Devil at all. There was a game in ancient times, where everybody's name could be translated into a number, and whatever number you were was supposed to mean certain things about you. Apparently, the Roman Emperor Nero's name, translated into a number by this game, is 666. So, it is quite possible that whoever wrote that the sign of the beast is 666 was not talking about the Devil, but about Emperor Nero. Emperor Nero was an enemy to the first Christians; he was responsible for terrible brutality, persecution, and oppression, to anyone who refused to worship him.

Another clue is the part about how "no man might buy or sell, save that he had the mark." "The mark" might refer to the Roman imperial seal that was stamped into coins and official documents. If you refused to worship the Emperor, you were not permitted to use this seal. Not having the seal meant you were banned from doing most business/trade.
