If you have read Luke 17:12-19 the meaning will become clear to you. But as you have asked the question I will give you the answer. Many ask to be cleansed of their sins, or saved from some situation or like the lepars made whole. Yet when the cure is met or the situation resolved there are few who will remember who it was who brought about the cure. They go away rejoicing, having been freed of their torment, but do they remember the Christ who opened to door of their prison, no they do not. Out of the ten lepars only one turned to give thanks.

Few understand the ways of God. Two young boys listened at the window of a poor widow, she was on her knees praying "Lord have mercy upon me , I have no food and cannot afford to buy any"

The boys said "Let us buy a loaf of bread and place it upon her window sill, she will think that God has given it to her". This the boys did and went off laughing.

In this little story do you understand how God used the boys to bring about the request of the poor widow without them realizing it? Do you think the widow gave thanks for her blessing?

A:In this story, Jesus cured ten men of leprosy, but only one gave thanks for his cure. The essence of the story is that the one who gave thanks was a Samaritan.

The Samaritans were traditional enemies of the Jews, probably since the Jews invaded Samaria (the ancient land of Israel) in the second century BCE and enslaved the people. We see this enmity in Matthew 10:5: "These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:", John 10:5: "Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans " and John 8:48 "Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?"

Whereas Matthew and John dwell on the ethnic differences, Luke seeks to show that even the enemies of the Jews can be good people. It is Luke's Gospel that introduces the story of the Good Samaritan, the only person who would help the injured traveller, and here the Samaritan was the only one who showed gratitude.

This short story is about how Christians should consider themselves "slaves" of Christ. The true bond-slave of Christ has no reason for pride. Self-importance has no place in a slaves life.

The servant in the story has been plowing or tending sheep all day. When he comes in from the field at the end of a day of hard work, the master does not tell him to sit down for supper. Rather he orders him to put on his apron and serve supper. Only after that is done the slave is allowed to eat his own meal. The master does not thank him for doing these things. It is expected of a slave. After all, a slave belongs to his master and his primary duty is to obey.

Christ's disciples belong to Him-spirit, soul, and body. In the light of Christ's death on the cross, nothing they can ever do for the Saviour is sufficient to recompense Him for what He has done. So after the disciple has done everything that he has been commanded in the NT, he must still admit that he is an unprofitable servant who has only done what was his duty to do.

What does the Christian Bible have to say regarding prescription pain medications?

In the book of Matthew chapter 9 verse 12 you can read "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick." This is also recorded in Mark chapter 2 verse 17 and also in Luke chapter 5 verse 31. In the book of Colossians chapter 4 verse 14 you can read of Luke being the beloved physician. With these passages you can see that the authority is given to see a doctor when physicaly sick. Now through the care of the doctor he or she may prescribe or give you some type of medication for your treatment. In the book of Proverbs chapter 31 and verse 6 you can read "Give strong drink to him that is perishing." In this verse we can see that the drink is used as a medication. In old times pills were not used as they are today.
