The Joy of Duty
The concept of joy is determined by a person's value system. Your particular set of morals/values, are those that you inherited from genetic sources and those that you learnt from the environment within which you were raise. The awareness of joy for each individual depends on his/her belief systems.
A feeling of ecstasy or thrill validates the concept of joy for most people. There are numerous sources that could lead people to this feeling of joy, e.g. sports, drugs, sex, pets, hobbies, children, etc. Some people also get their joy/thrills from the pain and suffering of others.
The greatest joy therefore is that act which fills you so completely that your heart overflows (your cup runeth over) you burst out into tears of joy.
