The Vatican (Vatican City) is a separate state located within the city of Rome, Italy, that serves as the religious and administrative center of the Roman Catholic Church. It is the official home of the reigning Pope and the meeting place for the leaders, or cardinals, of the Church. It is recognized as its own country, one of the smallest sovereign states in Europe.
Vatican city is very beautiful. The gardens are extremely looked after and elegant. It measures only 44 hectare which equals around 110 acres. There are many famous and popular tourist attractions. Some of the tourist attractions are The Sistine Chapel, St Peter's Basilica and Vatican Museum. The Vatican Museum is huge. The museum measure just over 9 miles ( if you were only to look at each painting for 1 minute it would take you 4 years to get through the whole museum) The pope also has his own personal guards also known as the Swiss guards. these have to be male, have basic army training, be unmarried, have no children and last but not least be a Swiss catholic.
