When the plate or a sack is passed down the rows to the believers the money placed into the offering plate is called tithes and gifts or offerings. The IRS calls them charitable contributions. Once the money is put into the church treasury bank account the funds are called the church budgetary funds. The money is very carefully used to pay salaries and pay utilities and perhaps a mortgage on the church. The funds also pay for Sunday school teaching items and often money for missions. Now some churches put a locked box with a slot on the top and they put their donations in that box. They label it tithes or Gifts to God or some nice wording.
It is called tithing; one gives a tithe to the church.
In the offering if you have one
While it's fine and good to contribute to the church if your heart and understanding leads you to do so, there's no reason whatsoever to give money to the church specifically for baptizing.
Give them money.
The money you give to the church has nothing to do with God, or how He views you. Your donation is simply to maintain the church. God will give unlimited to you if you let him into your life. No matter how much money you have and give.
l will give it to the church because God says in his word that if we give him 1 he will give us 100

The money is generally used to help the poor.
There are a number of reasons why we give money to the church. To pay for its upkeep, to pay for the services of the leaders and another is perhaps the most important and that is to feed the poor and hungry. If you are in a situation where you are in need of food and sustenance then the church will assist you in your need, not in a monetary handout but in goods and kind. This is not money laundering, but a genuine need to keep body and soul together.
