Moses was born a Hebrew slave. Actually, all the Hebrews were slaves. At the time, king was trying to kill all the baby boys, so Moses' mom set him in the Nile river afloat in a waterproof basket. The king's daughter found him and raised him as her own. Moses grew up as an Egyptian prince. When he saw a Hebrew slave being whipped severly by an Egyptian slavemaster, he killed the slavemaster and buried him in the sand. He knew that if he stayed, the king would kill him. So he fled to Midian, where God called Him up out of the desert and told him to set the Hebrews free. That was when Moses learned that he was a Hebrew.
Moses was the son of Amram and Jochebed. His brother was Aaron, and his sister Miriam. He was raised to maturity by Pharoah's daughter, and later married Zipporah, Jethro's daughter, and had two sons, Gershom and Eliezer.
